Everything wasn’t the same. I wasn’t with Derek but with a man whom I barely knew. He was fast asleep and looked handsome in the morning light. I had a wrong feeling about this. Where was Derek? Where was Eva?

The man stirred in his sleep and I made a move to get up. He opened his eyes with a jerk and looked at me.

“Hello Liltu” he smiled

“Huh” I looked at him confused. Who was Lilitu?

You. You are Lilitu, you fool.

A voice inside me whispered. “I am Lilitu?” I said out aloud. The man mistook my interrogative sentence. He thought I was talking to him, telling him I am Lilitu.

“Yes, I know you are” he said confused. “Ah, is this your queer nature Lilitu?” he smiled.

He got up and cupped my face in his hands. He closed his eyes and slowly breathed on my upper lip. He was so close I thought he was kissing me. After a few second he opened his eyes and said “Lily Black. Is this how you change forms” He was winking.

“Who are you?” I asked trembling

“Samil Ackhart” he said beaming.

Damn you Lily Black.

I heard a voice inside me whisper. I shrugged at Lily White. Why didn’t she want to reveal herself?

“Do you know how you can bring Lily White out?” Samil asked his face tilted to one side, sneering.

I was frightened at the thought. Lily White and I separated. I would not like it.

“No” I answered.

“Sad” Samil sighed. He did not seem to like me as much as he liked Lily White.

“Can you take me back to Eva’s place?” I asked non-chalant.

“Sure. But promise me you will bring Lily White back” he said.

I promised and we made a move. All through the way he was silent. I was thinking.

What if Lily White fell in love with this man and me in love with Derek. Things would be so bad. Would I have to give up Derek for Lily White?

Derek is a jerk. Samil knows everything. He is the prince.

The voice was getting louder inside me. “Could you please stop reading my mind?” I whispered to Lily White

“I do not want to. I wish I could help.” She said sighing. There was something about her voice I did not like today.

Ask Salim to wait for me at Eva’s place.

“Never” I whispered. I walked faster as I wanted to get to Eva soon. Samil was smiling and humming to himself. He was gorgeous.

When we reached Eva’s hut I peered inside and softly called out to Eva. She came from behind and hugged me.

“Oh my god! Where were you?” Eva’s face was worried. “I was with him” I replied hastily.

“Hey Eva” Samil smiled at her and ran a finger through her cheek.

Eva smiled back and hugged Samil. They both seemed very happy to meet each other.

“Its been so long Eva” he smiled. “You are as beautiful as ever”

Eva invited him over for lunch and Lily White did a small jig inside me. She was very happy that Samil was staying back. She wanted something from him.

In the kitchen with Eva I looked at her and said “Do you know my mother Eva?”

Eva was horrified at the question. “You know your mother is dead, don’t you?” she asked not looking at me.

“Don’t hide things from me Eva” I said sniffing.

“Who keeps telling you all this?” she asked. I did not answer.

“Did you meet Derek?” she asked horrified.

I nodded and looked away. I heard Eva move behind me.

“You know you’re throwing yourself into trouble Lily. Your mother is not your destination. You have another way to go now. Listen to your mind instead of your heart” she said.

Nobody understood how I felt. I wanted to meet my mother and question her. I wanted to know why I was being a burden. I wanted to know why it never lasted with us.

The questions were pounding my head while I was eating. Samil was enjoying the lunch. He ate as if h never ate in ages. “So Lily what are you here for?” he asked grinning.

I turned to reply but suddenly something happened.

“Don’t you know Samil?” I sneered. I wasn’t the same.
