Zoey is fuming.

How dare he.

Yes, she loves the guy but -

She can barely contain her exasperation. "No! You can't do that!"

"Uh, yes I can." Chris deadpans with an air of nonchalance while glaring hard at the toddler sitting innocently on the ground.

The toddler chews on her hand as she giggles amusingly at Chris' unwavering stare.

"Stop glaring at him like that!"

"I do what I want." Chris chews on his bottom lip and wrinkles his nose petulantly. If they were in a different setting, Zoey would no doubt coo at how cute that is. However, in their current situation, if she did just that, it would either get Chris more worked up than he is right now, or distract him enough so that she can throw him out of the house.

Not willing to take the risk of making her boyfriend angrier, she kicks him at his shin and bends down to pick up the smiling toddler that has her whole hand wet with drool.

"Chris."

"What."

She kicks him again. "I love you, go home."

"No."

"I'll be back soon."

"Soon, as in five hours later?"

"No, soon as in I will personally kick you out soon if you continue to glare at Noah."

"His name is Noah?" Chris scrunches his nose again and what the hell, is that a new habit now or what, how did I miss that -  Zoey wonders and then frowns, she hasn't been spending a lot of time with Chris actually, now that she thinks about it, she wouldn't have known.

"He doesn't look like a Noah."

"And you don't look like a Chris too, you look like a jerk."

Chris scowls, "Don't be mean. I'm not getting out of the house unless you are leaving with me."

Before Zoey can get a word out, there's rustling at the door and it creaks open steadily, revealing Noah's father.

Chris visibly lightens up and bounces off the couch. "Ah, Mr. Danvers! Just the person I want to see." He cheers with dark enthusiasm.

"Uh." The man glances back and forth between Chris who has a giant smile plastered on his face and Zoey who has Noah balanced on her hip, then settles his eyes on Zoey questioningly. "This is . . . ?"

"Hi. I'm Chris."

Zoey knows what he's going to say. Shit. "Chris, don't even - "

"You look like a nice guy, Mr. Danvers."

"Uh." The man stares back in confusion as he drops his keys onto the coffee table. Chris suppresses the urge to snicker. For a businessman, he is pretty eloquent, wow.

"So don't you think it's a little too much to ask for Zoey to stay overnight to take care of Noah?"

"Chris, I swear - "

"She knows what she's signed up - "

He cuts them off, "Uh, no? Zoey signed up for taking care of your child while you're busy at work, not busy fucking -" Before he could get the rest of the words out, Zoey lets out an outraged yelp and hugs the wide-eye toddler closer to her chest.

"Oh my god, Chris, there's a toddler here? Don't swear."

"But swearing adds to the aggression and I'm angry right now, Zoey"
