Chapter 2
That night was filled with pain over so many things I think I lost track. Reyna and Chase spent the day in the backyard, swimming in the pool or riding ATV's, while I sat in my window reading. Now, if you know me, this is NOT normal Sienna behavior. Usually on a weekend I would be out playing soccer with my friends, or I would be at volleyball practice.
Chase and Reyna wouldn't have met if it wasn;t for me. Ever since I had introduced her and Chase in sixth grade, they had always been best friends. I had always been jealous of him, and I don't think that I'm ever going to fully recover from what she did to me in seventh grade.
Seventh grade.
We were at my 13th birthday party at the bowling alley. I had invited all the popular kids to my party, when ya know, I wasn't the most popular. I hadn't known Reyna that well at the time, but Chase thought it was a good idea to get to know her. We were sitting next to each other, and I was admiring the "flawless" makeup the her sisters had probably done.
We both sat awkwardly on the bench, my two braids poking out from the sides of my head. I decided that I was hungry, and I reached over Reyna with the "excuse me" that was formal. I managed to grab the chicken tender, but in the process, Reyna moved her hand from the table, and her whole 2 liter bottle of pepsi spilled all over my pants.
Yeah, I still get the nickname pepsi pants to this day, but I've grown to live with it.
Samantha woke me from my daydream but buzzing my room. I hurried down the stairs and into the kitchen where she was standing.
"Do you want anything to eat Sienna? You haven't been out of your room all morning and it's almost three," she said in a motherly tone. It made my body cringe, and I locked up every emotion in fear of having a break down.
I shook my head and started to walk back up the stairs. Before I reached my room, and hand grabbed my wrist, tuning me around.
"Hey Si, I was wondering if you would like to come to the football game with me Reyna and I tonight?" Chase asked. The thought made me buzz, but when the thought reached Reyna, my mood sunk like the Titanic.
"Um, no thanks. I think I'll pass," I said awkwardly, attempting to walk down the hallway to my room.
"Great so meet me downstairs at s- wait what?" Chase asked, clearly shocked by by denial to the invite.
"I said no thanks, I'll pass," I said in a monotone voice, looking him dead in the eye. His face looked confused and I walked into the guest room with a feeling of confidence and insecurity clouding my judgement.
I opened the door to my room and went straight to the bathroom and locking the door. I looked in the mirror and shook my head. My curly dirty blonde hair and freckles could never compare to Reyna's straight dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. I couldn't believe that even after our rough past, Chase would date my best friend, or now my ex best friend I guess. Tears rolled down my face, and I quickly wiped them away. I wouldn't let him know that he had hurt me.
No one other than Mara bothered to visit me in my room until dinner. I talked on the phone with Jamie, one of my best friends who went to school with me and had been by my side since before I could remeber. Chase spent his night after the football game gaming, or on the phone with Reyna. I remebered when we used to talk on the phone every night, right up until the moment we fell asleep.
So I spent the night listening to music that spoke to me ; lyrics that connected me to reality. I still couldn't face the fact that my parents were dead, and that my two best friends would date. I felt like some 10 year old girl who was overreacting about love. I shook my head, this was stupid. I fell asleep with the thought of Chase and Reyna in the back of my mind.
