Chapter three
"I can't keep up with your turning tables, under your thumb I can't breathe," I sung, covering my headphones with my hand.
I was in Matthew and Samantha's recording studio that they had let me use this Saturday morning. I managed to make it through this week of school without major problems. I had woke up with the song that explained how I really felt on the tip of my tounge. I hadn't bothered changing out of pajamas, and ran down the stairs to find Samantha and Matthew drinking coffee.
"Can I use the recording studio?" I asked smiling a hopeful grin.
Matthew dug into his back pocket and handed me the keys.
"Thank you," I said meaningfully, and darted down the stairs into the basement.
I had just finished "Turning tables" by Adele, when I heard a sound outside of the rcording booth. I opened the door, but no one was there. I shrugged and brought up the music for "Make you feel my love."
It was the song that I had always sang with my mother when we had long car rides. I clicked on the music, and turned to face the wall away from the window.
"When the rain is blowing in your face," I started, my eyes tearing up.
"And the whole world is on your case"
"I could offer you a warm embrace"
"To make you feel my love"
My mom would usually sing here, but I filled in her spot, singing as strong as I could. I got to the chorus and belted it out as loud as my voice could go, but it broke. I continued on.
"The storms are raging on the rolling sea"
"And the highway of regret"
"The winds of change are blowing wild and free"
"You ain't, seen nothing like me yet"
I paused, lowering my voice for my favorite part of the song.
"If I could make you happy make your dreams come true"
"Go to the ends of the earth for you"
"No there's nothing that I wouldn't do"
"To make you feel my love."
The music stopped, and I turned around, looking through the window and screamed, falling over onto the floor.
"You must be really excited to see me," Chase said Laughing. I rolled my eyes, but inside my heart was welling.
"How long have you been standing there," I asked.
"Since you started the song, great voice by the way," He said, with his signature smirk.
"Thanks," I said in a whisper, picking up my music folder, and walking out of the studio.
He stood and looked at me with a somewhat dumbfounded expression. I was almost out the door when Chase stopped me.
"Why have you turned into someone, something so hostile? Is it something I did?" he asked in an exasperated tone. My heartbeat picked up, and before I could say what was really on my mind, my heart stepped in the way.
"I'm not mad at you, I never have been. I've just been quieter since my parents passed."
He pressed his lips into a line and held out his hand.
"Come with me?" he asked, and I hesitantly took his hand, knowing that at any moment I could break.
