Chapter five

~..~..~..~..~

It was Wednesday night, and we were finally off school for winter break. Chase had gone somewhere after school got out today, bumming me out, so I sat in my room and read.

I hadn't always liked reading actually. In 5th grade, I found it as a way to escape reality. I would always get hallway passes to go to the library. I was a cheerleader, but people still threw out the occasional 'nerd' or 'geek' but it never really bothered me, because I knew if they juggled my life they would think differently.

At about 12:00 p.m, I heard the doorbell ring from the front of the house. I could hear Samantha scream at Chase for being out so late, so out of curiosity, I snuck out of my room and down the stairs into the kitchen to listen.

OK, maybe I was being a little nosy.

Or a lot.

"Chase do you not know that that girl went into her room and locked herself in until dinner?!" she shouted.

"Mom I can't do anything about that, I went skiing with some of my friends, big deal," Chase said, not really having to do with anything Samantha just said.

"I told you when Sienna came here, that she needed a friend. She adores you Chase, and your blind not to see it. She's been through a lot in the last few weeks, and I really hope she didn't think much about you leaving her here tonight," Samantha said, and I got a weird feeling of anger and sadness in my chest.

"Sorry mom, I won't do it again," Chase said, but I knew he was lying.

They kept talking, but I walked back upstairs into the guest room, accidently slamming the door. I grimanced and hoped I hadn't woke anyone up.

I decided to play around on my computer and I somehow got to YouTube, and I started watching covers of songs, and decided that I wanted to make one. I found the keys to the recording studio on Samantha's dresser and walked down the long staircase into the basement.

I unlocked the door and turned everything on and opened the door to the studio. I pulled up the only song that I could think of on my phone, and the music played.

The intro to "Beneath your beautiful" started, and someone walked through the door. Chase stood there and gave me a slight smile. He took another pair of headphones and started the first verse.

You tell all the boys no, makes you feel good. Yeah.

I know your out of my leauge, but that don't scare me away oh no.

You've carried on so long, You couldn't stop if you tried it.

You built your wall so high, that no one could climb it

He continued through the chorus and I stood there with a huge grin plastered on my face. He was actually singing to me, with me. My part came and I grabbed my Mic.

You let all the girls go, makes you feel good, don't it

Behind your broadway show, I heard a boy say please don't hurt me.

You've carried on so long you couldn't stop if you tried it.

You've built you wall so high, that no one could climb it.

But I'm gonna try.

We sang the rest of the song in perfect harmony, which just shocked me even more. I had no idea this boy could sing. I had known him for almost all of my life and I thought singing was a joke to him.
