Chapter nine

Saturday morning I couldn't help waking up early in a great mood. I walked downstairs in my pajamas and ran into Mara. She was running towards the kitchen and her blonde hair in braids with a stuffed animal in her arms.
"Good morning Si Si!" she yelled, tearing past me.
I smiled and kept walking towards the kitchen to see what was being made. I smelled bacon and pancake batter cooking and I saw Matthew standing by the stove.
"How's my bonus-daughter?" he said, flipping a pancake. I smiled and made my way towards the fridge to pour a glass of lemonade.
"I'm grand," I said, capping the lemonade, and placing it back in the fridge.
"Oh is that so?" he said, flipping another pancake, "I hear you have a date tonight."
I blushed, "Something like that," I said nonchalantly. He nodded with a slight smile. I grabbed a pancake off the tray and went to eat at the coffee table by the couch with Chase.
"Good morning," he said with a slight nod, his eyes never leaving his food.
"Morning," I said, biting into my pancake.
"What're your plans for today?" he asked, glancing up at me.
"I have a date," I blurted out, trying to sound casual. He looked at me, a look of jealousy and sadness rippling across his face, but it went away as quick as it came.
"Oh," he mumbled.
"Yeah," I said awkwardly, silence settling between us. A few minutes later, he took his plate and walked to the kitchen and walked out, up the stairs and slammed the door to his room.
I furrowed my eyebrows but went back to watching TV and eating my breakfast.
"What's Chases problem?" Carson asked, walking into the living room and putting his arm around my shoulders.
"I don't know, all I said was I had a date," I replied.
"A what?" Carson said, his voice going up an octave.
"A date?" I said.
"You told Chase that you have a date? Oh gosh the kid's going to be crushed," Carson said, rubbing his head.
"Wait, why?" I said, getting an uneasy feeling in my stomach.
"He's falling for you Sienna," Carson said in a falsetto voice, but I could tell he wasn't joking.
"No," I said, refusing to accept it, "You have to be joking Carson."
"I'm not," he said, "He doesn't he have a girlfriend right now, he broke up with Reyna, he's been spending more time with you, it all adds up Sienna."
I rubbed my head.
"Think about it," Carson said, and with that, he got up and left the living room.
I walked into the kitchen, placing my plate and silverware in the sink and went back up to the guest room and flopped down onto my bed. I wanted to believe that Chase still had feelings for me, but it would ruin any relationship in my future.
My clock read 11:05. That meant I had four hours to get ready for this date with Clayton.
I only hoped that it didn't end up hurting Chase.

By the time it was almost five, my hair was done and my outfit was complete. Even though it was still fairly cold outside, Samantha had taken it upon her to buy me a high waisted lace skirt and cute royal blue sweater. She curled my hair for me, and put on a bit of makeup, seeing as this wasn't just school.
