Chapter eight

~..~..~..~..~

"I have a surprise for you!" Beckett yelled from where he was sitting on my bed. I finished brushing my hair in the bathroom and pulled it into a ponytail.

"Okay Beckett," I said, exiting the bathroom, "What's up?"

He pulled out his new phone, courtesy of Samantha and Matthew, and tapped around for a few seconds before a message came up from my personal trainer/track coach. My heartbeat sped up and I took his phone.

Sienna Albot,

I know you well enough that you can't keep off the track much longer. I would like to coach you privately again. You're in 10th grade now and your qualifying time for states is harder. We need to start conditioning this week. Meet me out on track at 4:00.

Do it for your parents Sienna, they would be proud of you.

Sincerely,

Coach Kai.

I stood in my place, processing the message for a moment.

"So what do you think?" Beckett asked, a hopeful look on his face.

"That I want to go to states," I said, a full blown smile on my face.

Beckett smiled and walked out the door. I grabbed my backpack and walked down the stairs.

When I entered the kitchen, I could smell waffles which is always a good sign. Chase had his soccer jersey on and khaki shorts.

"Chase, you have everything for your soccer game tod-" Samantha started, "Yes mom!" Chase yelled. I grabbed a plate and quickly scarfed down a waffle.

"Somone's hungry," Chase mumbled laughing as he walked behind my chair. I turned my body, smacking his arm and he dropped his plate on the ground, spilling grapes everywhere.

He looked at me, and then back at the ground and groaned as he squatted to pick up the grapes. I laughed quietly, and took my plate to the kitchen and bolted for the car before Chasee could catch me.

We got to school and it started pouring down rain.

Really world. I thought, taking my backpack out of Matthew's truck. Chase was one step ahead of me, already walking next to his group of friends and talking animatedly. I walked slower behind with my umbrella and met up with Jamie and Celia.

"How's living with the Parker's?" Jamie asked in her high pitched voice. I smiled, "Interesting."

"Isn't it weird that you used to date Chase but now your living with him?" Celia asked, and I shook my head.

"It's like we never even dated," I replied.

"Oh that's depressing," Celia said, shaking her head. I rolled my eyes and we walked into first period.

I sat down in my usual spot and pulled out a notebook, the first word I tried to write, my pencil snapped and broke.

Oh, so it's going to be that kind of day. I thought, rolling my eyes again.

"Chase!" I yelled across the room. He looked up from his notebook and raised his eyebrows.

"I need a pencil!" I whispered. He rolled his eyes and went into his backpack to take out a pencil.

"Miss. Albot, please stop yelling!" Mrs. Winter, yelled in her overly excited voice. Chase threw me a pencil and we started our six grueling hours at school.
