Cassidy's POV

I woke up to the irritating noise of my shitty alarm clock, its beeping noise pounding in my head. As I caught a quick glance at what time it was, all of last nights events came rushing back to my head all at once.

New house.

New school.

How many times did I snooze that alarm? I thought, exasperated, as I scrambled out of bed and rushed down the stairs while yelling at my mom.

"What?" She came out of her room with a yawn, arching her back and rubbing her eyes.

"Mom, I'm late!" I cried, frantically, grabbing a energy bar from the cupboard in the kitchen, and running back up. She just stood there, watching me stumble up and down the stairs with her tired eyes, then after about 5 minutes, realised what time it was.

"Oh, honey, you should probably get going now-"

"Bye mom!" I grabbed the keys from the hook in the hallway and slammed the front door shut. I pulled my jumper over my head and reached to my wrist for my hair band. Which wasn't there.

I moaned loudly and slapped my hand to my head, but had no time to go back. So I just ran as fast as I could.

••••

"Miss Walker?" my unsuccessful plan of sneaking in through to the main office of the school and grabbing my timetable, not only didn't work, but got me into trouble.

I had the damn thing in my hand so why couldn't I just go to my first lesson quickly?!

I turned on my heal slowly to face the fat receptionist questioning my being there. No one was around, thankfully, I didn't need any more embarrassment.

"Yes?" I asked politely, sneaking a look at myself in the small mirror behind her. I was a mess! My hair was knotted and all over the place, and my jumper was inside out.

"What are you doing here? At this time?"

"I'm really sorry, I'm late," I replied nonchalantly, not trying to sound too worried and get her to pity me. Too much of that happened in the past.

"I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to give you a detention miss," she tutted at me, pushing up her big glasses on her nose to keep them from slipping off.

My mom doesn't care, bitch.

She ripped off a piece of yellow paper from a small notebook and handed it to me.

"Are you sure you have the right timetable?" she asked. I started walking away from her and called back: "Yes." I didn't need to talk to her anymore.

Looking for my class was extremely hard, I ended up going in circles all around the huge school, and soon, every one was filing out of the classrooms everywhere, pushing and nudging me in all directions.

"Excuse me, dude," I called after a rude guy who had shoved me completely out of the way and into some lockers. I had learnt to stick up for myself in the past 5 years, and I don't blame myself; my neighbourhood was filled with hoods and thieves and murderers.

There were so many voices everywhere. Girls screaming: "OMG, did you see that? He looked at me!" Guys saying: "What's up, bro," and I realised everyone was turning their attention to a few people who were coming down the hallway. Everyone was making a parting through the corridors to let them pass.

Who were they, royalty? Celebrities? Why was everyone worshiping the floor they walked on?

I poked my head over to one side so that I could see who they were, but people kept on moving around and squeezing me against each other.

I walked all the way around the crowd and found a bench to stand on. I had the perfect view.

There were 2 boys. They were both extremely hot.

And 1 girl. Who, to me, wasn't pretty at all.

The two boys looked so similar, and they yet so incredibly familiar, but I couldn't piece my thoughts together. They were smiling at everyone and I couldn't help but notice that the one on the left was being harassed by the girl.

She was hugging him, putting her hands around his waist, resting her head on his shoulder, and just wouldn't stop moving. She was started to piss me off, and I'm sure she annoyed others too. The other guy was smiling at a group of girls who started screaming at each other with big smiles plastered all over their faces.

Whoever these people were, they sure were popular.

I stepped down from the bench and decided to leave the crowd as the high-pitched screams and all the talking was all too much for me to take in - especially so early in the morning.

I asked a few people where the principles's office was, and only one person helped me: a skinny girl with big, square glasses and two high pony tails hanging from her head. She was wearing checkered, pink tights with blue shorts and a white shirt that you would probably find in men's stores. She was also carrying a huge load of books, and I'm pretty sure there were plenty more in her bag.

When I finally arrived to the principals office, I was completely worn out from having to walk all around the school and back, because it had been right next to the main office, where I had come in.

"So, Miss Walker," Principal Scarpapitchi folded his hands and placed them on his shiny, wooden desk and looked at me, one eyebrow cocked. "I heard you came late-"

"Yes, I'm very sorry, I overslept. But it was quiet hard to wake up after arriving at our new house at 2:30 in the morning," I interrupted, adding the last sentence with a touch of annoyance in my voice.

"Oh yes. I understand," he continued. I looked at him, my arms folded across my chest and my eyebrows raised, waiting for him to say something. "So do you know where your next lesson is?" he finally questioned.

"No, I have no idea," I burst out helplessly. He got up from his wide chair and walked over to the shelves on the right part of the dark room. Everything was so organised, it made me feel sick. Pencils were placed neatly in a small box, all of them sharpened to the point and few piles of paper laid on the desk, untouched.

"Here," he handed me a piece of paper with faded ink, but the more I squinted at it, the more I saw a map. Of the school.

"Thank you," I got up quickly, dragging the wooden chair I was sitting on to the side, grabbed my bag and finally escaped from the room. I took a deep breath and looked at the piece of paper intently.

As I started to walk, a voice called from behind me, and I turned immediately to face the principal.

"I almost forgot," he chuckled, striding closer to me, "A boy who is in the same year as you will give you a tour of the school!"

"Who?" I gulped. I didn't want a tour. I didn't need a tour.

"His name is Ethan."
