****Sorry for the long wait! I was on vacation and I have HUGE tests coming up!:P I'll make this chapter long i promise.****
The chilling breeze of the AC sent chills up my spine, causing goosebumps to arise on my arms. I rubbed my arms with my hands which made Liam chuckle. He took off his jacket and draped it over my shoulders, "Here ya go love." he said with a soft smile spreading across his lips.
"Reservations for two under Mr. Liam Payne?" The waitress at the main desk asked, then looked up at Liam with a flirty smile. She flipped her sleek black hair over her shoulder and cleared her throat. "Follow me!"
We followed the waitress through the restaurant. The restaurant was so fancy, I felt like a germ walking inside of it. The marble white floors glimmered with the reflection from the lights. The walls were very modern, with large landscape photographs of the city on them. I was surprised that no one recognized Liam, but then again I guess I wasn't surprised because most of the people here were old couples or newly weds. There were maybe three full families here, kids and all. The waitress motioned us to the table beside her. Liam pulled out a chair, gesturing me to sit in it. I sat down on it, practically sinking into the cushion. Liam then pushed it back in without a struggle, then walked around the table to the other side.
The waitress brought a hand to her heart and let out a romantic sigh. She bothered me. She then placed a menu in front of me and a menu in front of Liam.
"Can I get you any drinks to start out with?" she asked, pulling a small notepad and a pen out of her pockets. Liam nodded at me, "I'll have just a water, thanks." I said, trying to remember about all the empty calories in sodas and juices.
"I'll have a water also please, thank you." Liam said.
"Alright so two waters." She scribbled onto her notepad. "I'll be back in a couple minutes to take your food orders. Take your time sweetheart!" She said laughing and placing a hand on Liam's shoulder. She then turned away and strutted back through the restaurant.
Liam looked at me, squeezing the bridge of his nose with his fingers. I laughed a fake laugh, "Who is that? The waitress, you seem like you two know eachother pretty well!" I teased.
"Ugh, no. After we lost the restaurant, her family took over. She's his daughter..her name is Cecelia."
Whoa. Slow down. Liam's family owned this restaurant at one time?
"Your family used to own this restaurant?" I asked, curious as ever. There were so many things I didn't know about Liam.
"Used to. My dad was the owner, he built it actually. When I was about 3 years old it was finished. We named it Mirage because my grandma loved that name." his hands clasped together underneath the table, his eyes followed them.
"How did you lose it then?" I watched this eyes cautiously.
"My dad was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago. It was lung cancer, we were sure he wouldn't make it. We hated being so negative but the doctor even told us. They tried everything though, chemo treatments, switching hospitals, none of it worked. He died 2 years later. We lost a lot of money because of hospital bills, my mom couldn't support it. The Eriksons took over. They practicaly kicked us out. Luckily they haven't done any remodeling, my dad worked hard on all of this." his eyes caught mine and stayed there, holding my gaze.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." I felt bad for bringing up the subject, but I felt a little relieved knowing more about Liam.
"It's alright, thanks." He said. He must've noticed that i felt bad because he reached across the table and held my small hands in his. "It actually feels really good to get that off my chest."
