This night has been the best night in my entire life; and it hasn’t ended yet! We danced to two dances and I enjoyed every second of it. He would twirl me around and dip me down, it was so much fun. I will never forget dancing with Josh, especially what he did next.
The next song started to play, and I noticed that it was a little bit faster beat. I hadn’t ever heard this song before, but Josh’s face lit up when he heard it start to play.
“It Takes Two.” he tells me.
“Is that the name of this song?”
“Yes, it’s from the movie hairspray.”
“I never saw that movie. I heard it was good.” I replied. Josh didn’t respond, he started to sing to the words. The singer of the band had just started too. I had never heard Josh sing before, but he has an amazing voice! It’s deep enough to send Goosebumps up you, but also very soft and sweet. I listened as he sang to the song, and danced me around the floor. It was obvious that he was singing to me, and I thought about crying when he said some things. I kept my tears back; at least for now.
“...I dream of a lover babe, to say things I long to hear...” he sang. It made me want to melt. Then he sang another line, and I could tell he meant every word of it. It was like he looked straight into my heart and sang it to me. I will never forget the words he sang to me.
“...And I’ll be the groom if you’ll be my bride; it takes two, baby. It takes two.” he sang; the words that I knew that he meant with all his heart. After the song was over, I found out that I was right!
He got down on one knee. Right there on the dance floor, he popped the question.
“Repunzel Sara Gold, will you make me the happiest guy in the word and marry me?” he asked, with the sweetest voice he ever used. I couldn’t say a thing, not even simple yes. I couldn’t even nod. All I could do is cry; not sad tears, but the happiest tears I had. Josh stayed on his knee until I answered. Finally, after what felt like several minutes, I was able to answer him.
“Yes!” I replied. He stood up and wrapped his arms around me in a hug. Then he looked into my eyes, leaning in. The next thing I know, Josh has leaned in and has started kissing me. Of course, I had to kiss back. It wasn’t that long of a kiss, but it was enough to send sparks flying through me. I actually thought that it was the 4th of July, even though it was only November. Josh looked at me and gave me a loving smile.
“Joshua Zachary Dumez, I would be honored to be your bride.” I say after a while. He smiled and gave me a kiss on the forehead.
“In that case, you might want to wear this.” he says as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a jewelry box. He opens it up and there’s this beautiful diamond ring. I gasp pulling me hands to my mouth. Josh smiles hugely and grabs my hand. Then he gently slides the ring onto my ring finger, holding my hand a little while longer. When he releases I pull my hand up closer to my face and stare at the ring on my finger. I go completely lost into the ring and its meaning. I play the words Josh sang to me just a few minutes ago over and over again. “I’ll be his Queen, I’ll be his bride, and I’ll be his dream come true, I’ll be his girl, I’ll be his pride and joy, and I’ll be his pearl.” I say to myself.
“You know, a diamond ring looks good on your ring finger. You should wear one 24/7 from now on.” his says, with a wink and a smile. Of all the times that Josh smiled at me, this time I thought that I was literally going to melt into his arms, and I kind of did.
“Do I get a choice?” I say with a laugh. He smiles and shrugs his shoulders. I take a step closer to him and give him hug.
“I love you.” Josh whispers in my ear. “And I plan to prove it to you for as long as we both live.”

Josh walked me to my dorm. I still couldn’t believe that he asked me to marry him tonight! Okay, I have been really wanting him to, but I didn’t really expect it tonight! I unlocked the door and Jessie was watching TV. Josh and I walked in and Jessie walked over to us.
“So, how was the dance?” she asked.
“It was okay I guess.” I say. I looked at Josh and gave him a big smile. He smiled back a knowing smile.
“Oh. Did something happen? What went wrong?” she asked.
“Lots of things happened.” Josh played along with me.
“Like what?” she asked. I couldn’t hold it in any longer.
“Josh and I are engaged!” I screamed with joy.
“What?! Oh my gosh! Really?” Jessie said almost crying. I nodded and showed her the ring. Jessie gave Josh and me a big hug and jumped with joy. Then she began to ask several questions.
“Jessie, we will work everything out with time. But it’s getting late.” I said.
“Yeah, I better get going.” Josh added.
“Okay, I’ll walk you to the door.” I said. We walked to the door and I walked out for a second. “Thank you for such a wonderful night, Josh. I’ll never forget it; for as long as I live.”
“I was hoping that I made it memorial for you enough.” he said with a smile. I looked down at the ring again.
“Yes, it was extremely memorial.”
“I wanted it to be as fairytale-like as possible. I figured dancing was pretty close.”
“Why fairytale-like?” I asked, not really caring just wondering.
“Because every princess needs a fairytale. Why would you be any exception?”
“Who said anything about me a princess?”
“You’re my princess...” he said with a grin.
“Oh...”I said, feeling myself blush. Josh laughed and wrapped me in a hug.
“It’s a good thing you have someone to point out the obvious to you. Sometimes you are just so clueless.” he said with a wink and a kiss on the forehead.
“Oh, yeah? And just who is this ‘someone’?”
“Like I said, clueless, Princess.” he said with a smile. Then he leaned in and kissed me. It wasn’t anything extreme, just really sweet. When he slowly pulled away, he just smiled. I smiled back. “Goodnight, My Princess.”
“Goodnight, My Prince.”
“No, I’m no prince, I’m just a very lucky knight.” he said as he leaned in for one last kiss, then he walked away. I watched him walk away, sighing. I felt like I was in heaven. Nobody pinch me, I don’t want to know if it’s not real. Let this feeling last for as long as possible. Is that too much to ask?
