When Darren and I got home from school, I crashed into Lance who was apparently, waiting for me to come home.

"Hey Lance." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Hey babe." he says and plants a kiss on my cheek.

I lightly pushed him away and walked into the kitchen.

I grabbed myself a bottle of water from the fridge and sat down at the island counter.

"Lunar eclipse tonight at 2:37. Wanna watch it with me?" Darren asks as he sits next to me.

"Yes!" I said, "I'd love to! I love eclipses!"

"Great. I heard the moon's big tonight so it's even better." he says.

"Yay! Can't wait!" I said, excitedly.

"Hey Tara..." says Lance, walking into the kitchen.

"What?" I said, turning around. My eyes landed on his lips, bleeding.

"I have cut. Can you kiss it better?" he asks, pointing at his bleeding bottom lip.

    "I can't. I hate tasting blood." I said, "Especially, other people's blood."

"I'll wipe it off and then you can kiss it." he says.

"Not gonna happen, Lance." I said.

"Aw, come one. We're getting married in three months, Tara. You have to at least try and open up to me." he says as he wiped off the blood on his lip.

"Opening up to a player? The biggest player in town? Psh, please!" I said, sarcastically.

"You know you're excited to marry me." he says, taking a seat next to me.

Great, now I'm sandwiched between my best friend and my future husband.

"Leave her alone, Lance." Darren says.

"Nope. I can't. She's so irresistible." Lance replies and puts his hand over mine.

I pulled my hand away and rolled my eyes.

"Hello, boys, Tara. You two are home early." says my mom, walking into the kitchen.

"Yeah. The bus driver took a different route and dropped us off first." I said.

"That's nice. Have any homework?" she asks.

"Sadly, yes." I said, "But not much."

"Fortunately, I don't." Darren says with a smile.

"Tara, why don't you start on it?" mom asks.

    "Fine." I said.

Lazy to go upstairs and do it in my room, I took out my homework binder from my bag and placed it on the counter top.

"Woohoo, U.S. History." I said, sarcastically.

"What do you have to do?" Lance asks.

"I have to complete a worksheet on Pearl Harbor." I replied.

"I bet it's not that hard." he says.

"Question 1: Why did the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor?" I read the first question on the worksheet out loud.

"Because they were pissed off since the U.S. dropped a nuke on Japan." Lance said.

"That is...well, correct I guess. Partially true." I said.
