The next morning, I woke up from a pair of arms, wrapping around my waist in my bed.
Startled, I sat up quickly and looked.
"G'morning, babe." Lance says, "Ready for our date today?"
"Holy crap, Lance?! You scared me!" I said, putting my hand on my chest.
"I wanted to know what it would be like if I slept in your bed." he says.
"Lance." I said.
"Yes, Tara?" he replies.
"Stop being so weird." I said, shaking my head, slowly.
"You know you love me." he says, resting his forehead on mine.
"What time is it?" I asked.
He looks at my alarm clock and then back at me, "11:15."
"Oh...okay." I said, yawning and got up from my bed.
I headed downstairs for breakfast as Lance followed.
"Morning, sleeping beauty." says Darren as we entered the kitchen.
"Morning, beast." I said, opening the fridge.
"That's not even in the same movie." he says.
"But they're both from Disney." I said, taking out OJ.
"Good morning, everyone." mom says, walking into the kitchen with a mug of coffee in her hand.
"Mornin', mom." I said.
"So, Tara, are you going bowling with Darren today?" mom asks.
"No, I'm going on a date with Lance." I said.
"Oh, that's nice." she says, "You and Lance, going on a date. How romantic."
"Yeah, how romantic." Darren says, sarcastically as he rolled his eyes.
"Darren, you're just jealous because you never had a girlfriend before." I said.
"Yes I have...." he says, softly.
"Imaginary girlfriend doesn't count, Darren." I said.
"C'mon, Tara, that was in 3rd grade." he said.
"But still, that doesn't count." I said.
"Fine. I'll admit it." he says.
"Go on." I said, smirking.
"I never had a girlfriend before." he said, very quietly.
"You know, I miss the days when you two used to play hide and go seek and swinging on swings together." mom says and takes a sip of her coffee.
"Those were the days when Tara was shy and quiet." Darren says, "Those were the good ol' days."
"What, are you saying I'm bad now? That I'm different?" I said.
"Stop complaining, Tara. You're 17, not 5." he says.
"Yup, I really do miss those days." mom says, laughing.

Hours later, when Darren left to go bowling with Ashton, I was once again, left alone with Lance. Of course, mom and dad already left for work.
