Usually when a family member (I don't have many) wants me to go somewhere I am hesitant, a friend I have known for a very long time, nervous and uncertain, and with Zeke, I'm usually afraid he will kill us accidentally. But for some reason, I didn't find it hard to go anywhere with Lucas. He had caused trained guards, who have resisted sleep for weeks during training, to sleep even before they hit the ground, and he had created a blazing fire to seem like just a hidden candle. I caught up with him and we crossed the crumbling bridge together. I told myself that his presence was keeping the bridge in the air.
"You are going to have to master the concept of illusions. That's why a snatcher is imperative for a seeker. The snatcher creates illusions for the other team and the seeker see's the other teams illusions. Well, that is if the seeker is good enough." Lucas told me
"Hold on." I said raising an eyebrow "I have to find the other teams, I mean the snatchers illusions?"
"Yes. They can be anything ranging from a circle of dreath shadows, to ravines covered with magic tarps."
"Are they dangerous?"
"Depends, however they almost always are." He responded instantly "An illusion can trick the foolish to walk into their own death, can put fear into the faint of heart, and they can blind the oblivious to things that will kill."
I stepped into the snowy town "So like a falling building?"
Lucas cringed at my words "Yes..." he said dryly. He quickly changed the subject "An illusion can be entirely in your mind, that is stronger, or it can be a group effect, which is weaker. If the snatcher is stronger than the seeker, he can do most anything to mess with the seekers mind. That's why you, the seeker, have to overpower his or her illusions."
We continued down the town, and we finally got to the Hearthwood tavern. It was empty. the remaining costumers were sleeping like stuffed bears during hibernation, which reminded me of Mr. Dowd, which reminded me of Zeke.
my snow sled, first wand, and my necklace had been taken away by Mr. Dowd, a lazy bear, when I was 10. The grump. Fortunately it had been December, so since he was lazy, he had decided to actually hibernate, instead of sleeping more year round. But what that also meant was that I was not getting my things back till spring. Zeke had seen my things though the window and we quickly devised a plan, as we tried hard to block out the snoring. Zeke had used one of his claws to open the door, a trick he taught himself, and in seconds we were in. I quickly grabbed my things and Zeke took my wand and for the first time it had worked. He had grown Mr. Dowd a mustache, and so well that it did not go away no matter what. A video was recorded of him trying to machete it off but it grew back in 5 seconds, and a lot of cursing took place after that. It made an appearance on our style of Mealowinds funniest videos and Mr. Dowd had moved in the week it took to make the video popular. I sometimes wonder if he even notice I took my stuff back.
We sat down at the table we sat at the night before.
"Doesn't Luna work here?" I asked after the waiter had asked us for our order.
"Yeah, but only as a part time job." Lucas said "Anyway, I need to tell you about this game called Oblivion."
"Oblivion?" I asked. I recognized the game somewhat, but I never knew what It was because it wasn't as big in the Mealowinds.
"Yes. Now try not to ask too many questions."
"I hope this isn't a boring history lesson where the teacher puts himself to sleep." I said as I prepared myself to listen. Just a delay tactic I learned to ready oneself.
Lucas sighed and after a few seconds delay, started "I'll start with the basics. A Lexicon is a magical item that allows the exploration of a world that is not real. Back in the Green Age, a very long time ago, Master Renal had had wizards compete against each other for a test of superiority and strength in the energy you know as magic. Back then, It was to the death which usually resulted in a narrower assortment of stronger and more powerful wizards. Now, with a Lexicon, we can fight without having to die in real life, or in a sense, die in the Lexicon and be pulled out of it."
