From Violets perspective:
Being a part of the army is tough. Being part of the Arcane army is even tougher. And being the only girl in the hardest sector is hell itself.
My nuclear powered headset turned on noiselessly with perfect transmittion. It read a match based off of the voice and information of blue plasma digitalized from my head piece, to my eye, emitting absolutely no radiation. Unfortunately it was Commander Gordon. "Get your ass down here Violet! Move it!"
Great, Commander Gordon is upset again. He probably figured out that on my test, I used a combat spell behind a low cover.
"Yes Sir!" I said in the best enthusiastic voice I could muster, which was not much. I picked up my gun, enchanted to be the ultimate combination of a nuclear blaster and a high powered magic wand called the Hybrino Ultima, and left for whatever hell Commander Gordon has planned for me this time. First, I went though the scanner, which was programed to scan, prevent, and in minor cases treat over 1.2 millions of different and combinations of diseases, and also scanned physical aspects and mood. My body appeared on a screen, and on my neck, my green dyed fur was detected as strain on my neck. I rubbed my neck realizing the strain. Then, out the door.
Damnit, I gained a pound. Oh well, ill try to get back to 94.
"Where the hell are you? I told you to come 40 seconds ago!"
I was still disappointed that I had gained a pound "All right commander, Just doing checks."
"You had better be here in 1 minute and five seconds. Or else." He said ominously
I switched off my head set and left for my Hover scooter, of course standard energy nuclear powered, with a few modifications that Tobias had made.
Thank you Tobias, I said to myself Now, I don't have to worry about that one minute and five seconds.
I entered the passcode in, and the engine noiselessly turned on the second I hit enter. The scooter itself was another hybrid. It had the symbol that most of our gear had; Armelda Incorporations. My Hybrino Ultima had the same symbol that was on the scooter. I put the hybrino in its bolster and took off for the fifty seconds I had, minus the fifteen seconds I had wasted. The base was located between Northridge and the Capital city, so it was offered cover by the snow, as well as a easily transportation with weapons and ammunition from the city, so overall it was one of the best bases in all of Pandora. It was built in the side of a mountain, and was about a half a mile wide and long, with seven floors ranging from the aircraft carriers, to the notorious Lexicon training rooms. I shuddered at the thought, but remembered that I had limited time. I swerved a corner, almost hitting a cargo hovercraft. They cursed me... Literally. Hexes shot out of the front end, while a energy splasher turned to face me. they shot a few apologies and the pilot franticly hit the override button while at the same time scolding the rooking for open firing on me. I laughed and took off to Commander Gordons Complex. Rookie mistake to fire under the smallest jolt.
I turned another corner. Twenty seconds left. Its fine, Tobais's modifications will make sure that I make it in time. I flipped the turbo engine on, and the engine hummed happily as I sped up to seventy miles per hour. Commander Gordon would blacken my eye if I wasn't a girl and if he had the motivation to have been watching the security camera. I pushed the brakes and the hover scooter slowly removed all of the forward momentum of the craft. Very handy in tight situations I thought recalling a few.
Five; I stepped of my scooter
Four; I took off to the stainless steel doors
Three; The doors slide open as I rush closer
Two; I am in the door way
One; I'm in.
My head gear rang signaling that my time was up. I panted heavily and took the seat that I had taken my first assignment all those years ago. I Had been fourteen, shining with promise.
"Well, It appears you made it on time." Commander Gordon said Dryly "Why don't you give me some variety and come one second later?"
"I'm here Sir" I said suppressing my panting
He narrowed his yellow eyes. "Commander."
"Commander" I repeated "What is the assignment?"
"I'll make it short and simple Crade. There had been a Dreath appearance in Northridge. Our operative, Diana, has confirmed this statement as true. I need you to get out there immediately, and apprehend the Dreath. Our scientists would like to study it, but if you need to, kill it. Under certain circumstances, I would have sent Ace, but he's on his own mission right now. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm counting on you. Now get out of here!"
"I won't let you down sir... Commander." I said confidently
"I sure as hell hope so." He said handing me a cartridge of extra information.
**********************************************************
It took me a minute to get into my Arcane gear, and another to get onto my scooter. Deep breaths in, deep breaths out. Gods, I hope I don't fail this mission, I thought but I instantly stamped out the thought. I will complete this mission. Plus I will make Commander Gordon shut up about my failed missions if I do this right.
The screen on my scooter turned on to reveal a digital Tobias. He was a leopard, as smart as they come. He was one of my good friends and on another note, had created a way to combine technology with magic before Kathrian Armelda. She was furious at being beaten by the seventeen year old genius.
"Hey! You on the new mission already?" Tobias said open to conversation.
"Yeah, Commander Gordon wants me out of his sight as quickly as possible." I said "Anyways, how is your promotion going?"
He sighed and rolled his eyes. "Boring! I could be out on field missions, but no! I'm stuck in a cramped lab with exposed wires. Can you believe it? Exposed Wires! I don't even think that they are waterproof!"
"Ok, that's enough geek talk for now, can you give me recon on the current situation."
Tobias was slightly wounded. "Well, I can tell you that the Dreath in question is Garth. Garth K. Polk. He is a medium on the enemy scale; has killed four accidentally, and one on purpose, as well as about a hundred injuries. He is known for being incognito ninety-five percent of the time, and ruthless the other five percent. He is more bark than bite, but if he disappears into shadow, be extra careful.
"Ok thanks." I said somewhat awkwardly. "Commader Gordon just left me in the dark. I wonder if he just wants me dead."
"I could send you backup at any time, though I know you'd prefer Ace." Tobias said with a smirk.
"Shut up!" I yelled and swung the scooter to narrowly miss a snowy pine.
"Ok, ok. And by the way, that was not even close to geek talk." He hastily added before I could push the "end" button.
