Gia's POV:
***
I sat curled up next to Jay, his warmth radiating from him keeping me warm. I could hear him breathing steadily and I almost thought he was asleep until he started stroking my hair. I snuggled in closer as the TV auto turned off- and the only light remaining was the dim flicker of a candle burning out on the table beside the couch we were resting on.
All was silent for a few moments.
Then Jay sighed as he stopped stroking my hair. "Sometimes I remember how damn good it feels to call you my girlfriend."
I chuckled in a subdued tone.
"Your a great boyfriend."
"I know." He said, kissing the top of my head. "Do you know what next week is?" He suddenly asked.
"Our two year anniversary." I said. "Honestly, I've been thinking about it all month."
"Your so cute!" He exclaimed, sitting up. "Want something to eat?"
"No thanks." I said, yawning. "I really should get home. Kassidy and I were going to watch Mean Girls."
"That's so fetch!" He said, using his best valley girl voice.
I ruffled his hair. "This is why I love you."
"Want a ride home?" He asked, standing up. I stood up two.
"Sure!"
I grabbed my stuff as we both slowly walked to the door. He opened it for me as a gust of nice summer-nights wind blew through the threshold.
"After you!" He said stepping aside. I walked through and waited for him to lock the door behind himself and take out his car keys. I walked down the concrete steps.
We both silently got in the car, and drove off into early September night.
•••Kassidy's POV:

I sat down on the couch, watching the Tuesday Night news. My pajamas were just it out of the drier, so they were nice and warm- and I had made myself a quick salad with lemon zest. Now all I had to do was wait for my sister to get home- and we would be watching my favorite movie.
The news was nothing special. Just some dog who made the Guinness Book of world records by riding a skate board and some old lady who won the Mega Millions.
Shortly after that story ended, my phone buzzed. I picked it up, and my heart started to race when I realized it was Caleb.
'Hey!' He had said.
'Hello!' I typed back.
'How are you?'
'About to watch Mean Girls.'
'Fun.'
I laughed. 'Yea, I bet you love that Movie.'
'It's my sisters favorite.'
The door opened. It was Gia. "Hi." She smiled, dropping her stuff beside the wall next to the door. She walked over and say on the couch.
"So how was it?" I asked.
"It was..." She heaved a sigh, and then smiled. "So anyway, I'm going to go upstairs and get in my pajamas. We can start the movie when I come back down.
"Sounds like a plan." I said, as my phone buzzed. Gia shot me a 'who-was-that?' look but I chose to ignore it.
When she didn't get a reply, she huffed and went upstairs.
I opened the text. 'Do you have any siblings?'
'A twin.' I replied.
'How's that?'
'Great! It's not as bad as people think.'
'What's her name?'
'Virginia. But we call her Gia.
'Ohhhh.... Surprised your not named after a state too.'
Gia came down stairs, raised an eyebrow, walked over to the couch and sat down. I went back to text Caleb that I had to go when she finally said:
"WHO IS THAT?!"
"No one..." I said.
"If it's not a female someone I need to know."
"Well it is a boy..."
"Who?!" She asked.
The boy who helped me clean up my coffee on Sunday at the coffee shop.
"So?"
"So what?"
"Did he ask for your number or did you ask for his?"
"He asked for mine."
"He totally likes you." Said Gia.
"He could just want to be friends."
"After a day? Come on. When did you even get it?"
"Earlier yesterday when I dropped you at Jays house. I can't believe you went there again today."
"Don't change the subject!" Gia exclaimed. "Do you like him? What's his name."
"His name is Caleb." There was a pause.
"And..."
"I don't know! I can't make a decision in two days."
"Okay, okay." Gia turned on the movie and it started to play, as I finally texted Caleb telling him I'd talk to him tomorrow.
'Okay, text you then.' He replied.
And I was sure he meant it.

I was tired all Tuesday and had to slog through classes, miserable of the thought of practice- until, as if fate felt bad for me, a notice was posted that practice was canceled because our coach had the flu. This was the one time I celebrated this fact seeing as I was kept up until one in the morning and about to fall over.
When classes finally ended that day, I breathed a sigh of relief. Like usual I waited for Indigo outside. Our apartment buildings were next to each other so we usually walked home together.
Soon enough she walked out of the building and made a beeline for me.
"You have been tired all day. Like abnormally tired. What's going on?"
"Damon-" was all I could manage until she cut me off.
"Oh, so I was right! You do have feelings for him! How was it. I think your the first one of us. I'm not at all interested in it myself but I want to hear about your experience."
It took a minute to click what she thought I had implied when I said Damon.
"EW NO GROSS!"
She laughed. "I'm only kidding. That's gross I don't need to hear about it."
"And I wouldn't be able to tell you because nothing like that happened! No, he was just being an annoying neighbor nothing like- just- nothing- EW GROSS!"
"I was only kidding. You really should try and go out with him-"
"NO!"
"Okay, but you two sound alike."
"I'M NOT A JERK WHO KEEPS THEIR NEIGHBORS AWAKE ALL NIGHT!" I said.
"Let's just go!" Indigo laughed- unable to contain herself.
How could I convince her I didn't like him?
