Stiles
I sat on the floor next to Scott as we and when I say we I mean the whole pack without Derek, watched a horror movie. Today was the day I decided to tell Scott about me and Derek. I still haven't told him which was eating me up inside and he wasn't even the first person I told about me being a fox, it was Derek.
I went through this scenario about a million of times in my head, gathering together the words. I was so consumed with telling Scott I totally forgot about another person who I need to explain myself too, my dad. We haven't even talked about me being a fox and now I have to tell him I like a guy werewolf who isn't really friendly with the law.
I felt sweat gathering on my forehead. By now every werewolf in the room could smell my nervousness even I did. I took a deep breath and nudged Scott nodding my head towards the kitchen. We both got up and left the room. As we got into the kitchen Scott stopped next to the table. I clenched my fists before I turned back facing him.
"Scott I have to tell you something but you can't get mad." I started whispering. He raised his eyebrows and widened his puppy eyes.
"I'm seeing someone"
"But that's great, why would I get made at this?" He smiled at me. All the words I came up with, the sentences I repeated over and over again in my mind washed away into the oblivion inside my mind. My throat was completely dried out like the desert. I swallowed the small amount of saliva I had looking back at him.
"Because the person is someone you know" he opened his arms indicating he has no clue. I closed my eyes as I blurred out his name.
"It's Derek" when I finally opened my eyes again his red ones glared at me. His claws by his sides and the fangs ready to tear someone apart.
"Scott calm down" I started to feel panic overtaking as I placed my arms before me, counting down the seconds he's going to jump at me.
"DEREK!" He yelled. Now he was even angrier. He turned his back to me as he ran outside. When I gathered my mind together again I felt something, I wasn't afraid of Scott anymore when I remembered where he was headed. I ran outside contemplating between taking the jeep or just running. Something, like a whisper made me run. My legs carried me on my own it was like I knew every single step Scott took. They were like feathers there was no pain but when I looked down at my hands the claws had replaced my normal short nails, I shifted. My vision got better even though it was night I saw everything clearly I passed all those cars with ease. When I finally reached Derek's loft Scott beat me to it. I sensed both of them one was filled with rage, this time it was Scott. I barged in through the door. I grabbed Scott by the color of his shirt throwing him of Derek, the wall stopping him. I helped Derek get up scanning him with my eyes for any injuries, when I saw he was perfectly fine I turned my attention towards Scott who was still lying on the ground. I got up to him and helped him to sit up. I placed my hand on his shoulder our eyes connecting.
"I'm sorry I flipped out." He said as his features returned to normal. Scott got up and went closer to Derek "If you hurt him in anyway I'll rip you open and feed you to the animals." Derek lifted the corners of his lips nodding his head.
"Well that didn't go as planned." I joked, seeing Derek grin.
"Stiles you should go it's late." He gave me a peck on the cheek as I hugged him goodbye.I threw on some sweats and a plain t-shirt. I ran downstairs and grabbed a pair of running shoes from the closet. I sat down on the step tying up my laces when my dad walked by.
"Where are you going?"
"For a run" He raised his eyebrows taking a sip of his coffee. I gave him a pat on the back as I opened the door. I ran down the street feeling the cold breeze against my warm skin, I made my way towards the small path that lead to the forest. When I started hearing the leaves crumple underneath my steps I sped up. The cold air I inhaled ran through my veins making me feel like I'm walking on air. I kept speeding up the farther inside the forest I got. The only sound that my ears picked up were the leaves and branches breaking, which was very soothing. The more I've got into the heart of the forest the more my mind wandered away from the troubles. I felt like one with the wild, the fox in me was pleased resting calmly. I didn't cared if anyone saw my golden eyes or the fangs that grazed my smile. Even though I have never been to this part I could tell where I was and how to get home, I could sense every single animal, the birds above me, the white rabbit that was hiding from me. I felt liberated and for once since I found out about who I was, I could control my abilities. I mastered controlling my abilities. The thought of that brought a smile on my lips exposing my fangs.
My tranquility was broken when I ran across a scenery known to well. I stopped on the small clearing that had a dried out tree in the middle. It's branches reached far into the fog that covered the sky. The tree from my childhood- I used to come here when I played hide and seek with my mother. But at that time the tree was full of green leaves that grazed it's branches and the sun made its shade perfect for hot summer days to hide in. As I thought of the happy childhood moments another memory caught me. My nightmare. How I sank my claws into Derek's chest his wincing and blood dripping down. I felt pain surround me as I gulped and got closer to the tree trunk. I examined it's trunk with my eyes and slowly placed my hand on it to graze it. As my skin touched the hard and dry wood my veins on my hands darkened almost complete blackness spread across my hands. It was staring at me with it's dark blue eyes showing off the sharp fangs releasing growls. It was quite big for a fox and it's coat was almost black I was still able to see a tint of auburn. It started making it's way towards me and I slowly backed away hitting the tree trunk. I felt a piercing pain on my leg, when I opened my eyes to the fox sinking it's teeth into my flesh.
I heard a voice in the air whisper to me "I gave you everything Stiles don't let them take everything away from you" As I opened my eyes once again the fox ran into the darkness of the silent forest."You had a vision when you touched the tree?" Harland asked me the same question for the one hundred time since she got here. I tried getting one again by placing my palm on the trunk but complete nothingness overflowed.
"You'll have to tell me everything you saw." I nodded my head and started from the beginning with every single detail that I managed to pull from the confusion that gathered in my mind. After I was done with the explaining I gave in to the urge to ask a certain question.
"Hey can I ask you one more thing?" She turned around narrowing her orange eyes.
"Why do you blame Derek for what happened to your family?" She widened her eyes stepping closer to me. Her fast movements pressed me against a tree hand wrapping around my neck.
"You don't get to talk about my family! It doesn't concern you who I blame." She spoke through gritted teeth. Harland let go of my neck letting me fall against the tree.
"It's not his fault and you know it." I said as she left.I stood on the frozen ground across Derek who was held by a bunch of man dressed in all black. I tried to move and get to him but my feet were glued to the ground. One of the man pulled out a silver knife tracing it across Derek's throat. My throat started burning as I saw his body collapse on the ground. Tears started rolling down my face I tried attacking, extracting my claws but nothing worked all I managed was to scream his name. He was lying dead on the cold ground and I did nothing.
"Don't let them trick you." The whisper said my skin turning cold."Stiles what's wrong?" I saw my dad stand above me. I was in my own bed, in my own room.
"I was just having a nightmare" I mumbled against him as he pulled me in for a hug.
"You were screaming pretty badly are you sure you're okay?" I nodded my head slowly and he placed a kiss on my forehead.
"Goodnight Stiles"
"Night" For once I was glad it was a nightmare at least that gave me the comforting that Derek was okay. Was he? My eyes turned gold, I threw my head back trying to concentrate as I searched for him with my 'sensor abilities' the more I focused the darker the veins under my eyes got. I felt a wave of relief when I saw him sleeping in his bed.
