What does the Moon do besides pull at the waves or shine in the night?

For one, it changes her form.

Carrie, a young girl who was abandoned and died shortly afterward, was reborn an animal, who relied on these phases of the Moon. But why did she? Well, many say this changed her form.

No human has ever seen the shape shifting animal. It was many years ago that she actually was sighted. They say she was a wolf at the time. There is a way to distinct her. There is a large red scar across her eye.

-Waxing Crescent

One night, Carrie woke up from a terrible dream, which sadly, was reality. She was alone. She never had a friend in the world.

At the time, she was a ferrel cat. Her coat was a slick black with a white patch over her shoulder. Her color never changed. She looked up at the small sliver that hung in the sky.

Depending on the size of the moon, it changes her form from a small animal to a big one.

Once morning came, she met a bigger tom cat a little bit older than her. She befriended the cat, whose name was Sirius, who was a small orange cat with a white muzzle and paws. He played with her for a while in the sun until dusk.

Once it was dark, Carrie told herself she needed to say goodbye. And she did, but was greeted by, "See you tomorrow!"

One side of her said this was good, and maybe she wouldn't have to be alone. But she reminded herself that she could not control her forms, meaning at Full Moon, she could become something that would wound her friend.

The next day, she once again played with Sirius, and at dusk, once again told him goodbye. But after about 3 days, he asked,

"Carrie? Are you alone? Am I your only friend?" Carrie sighed, nodding, and explained she could never keep a friend. She said she was destined to always be alone. But he smiled.

"Well, not anymore." And gave her a quick lick to her cheek. She blinked, a bit surprised, watching him walk into her den. She paused. But... How would she tell him?

-First Quarter Moon

When she awoke in the middle of the night, she looked up to see Sirius asleep on top of a rock. She smiled, walking over to a small pond that lay right outside her den.

But she was surprised by what she saw.

Carrie was a long, skinny but fluffy dog; her light blue eyes glowed like the half moon in the reflection of the water. She realized that now she HAD to tell him.

She nudged him awake and he blinked his eyes open, allowing his eyes to focus. He stiffened when he saw her and she quickly shushed him. "Let me explain-"

Too late. He was already running. She chased him and finally pushed him onto the wall, and was able to corner him. "Please don't eat me! I taste terrible!"

She rolled her eyes and sat down. "I'm not gonna eat you!" She growled. He paused and looked up at her.

"Wait... Carrie?" She sighed and nodded. She explained that she was a shape shifting animal who depended on the moon for her forms.

"Are you gonna run away now...?" She woofed, sniffling while a small tear ran down her cheek. He smiled and licked it. "No."
