I heard the news two weeks ago.
She's gone.
Now, I have a new roommate, so I don't feel alone.
Her name is Maki, and she controls fire. Due to my ice, the room is always wet, or filled with steam.
One day, I just let ice grow around me.
"Are you okay?" Maki asked.
"I'm... not quite over it. You see, I was in love with Hanayo. So, it's a little hard to just forget about her." I responded. She looked upset, but I decided not to ask. Maybe she didn't want to talk.
That was really the only time we talked, when we first got together. We kept upping the discussion, and I found her bit of shyness and closed-in-ness or something like that cute.
And one day, we were called in for an experiment.
They called it an "element contrast" experiment.
The instructions were given, and so I sent out a pillar of ice. Maki sent out a burst of fire.
They exploded.
The room was on fire.
To defend myself, I produced ice rapidly. A block surrounded me as I curled in a ball on the ground. When it melted, I rebuilt. The melted ice seemed to put out some fire, and then, the door burst open. A girl with long, blue hair blasted water all over the room. The fire was put out.
I got rid of the ice and Maki's fear turned into happiness. She ran to me, in the 10-inch deep water.
"You're alive!" she cheered, hugging me tightly.
This moment I realized.
Maki may have this independent aura given off of her, but she really just wants someone to trust. As far as I know.
She thinks I could be that person.
