It's been 4 weeks since Bristol. 4 weeks since my father wouldn't look at me. I had to go to Mom's. I don't like being with Mom. I have to keep every bruise covered.

I woke up on the couch. Where on fell asleep. Unlike Dad she doesn't carry me upstairs to my empty room. I don't like going to Virginia. Given it is a farm but its just horses. I have refused to ride a horse for 3 years. I got bucked off. I broke 3 ribs, my left arm and gained never wanting to be around a horse again.

Mom said, "Get dressed and come out to the barn."

"Ugh. Do I have to?"

"Yes."

"Fine."

I went upstairs and put on clothes. Then I put on my John Deere boots. As I walking out to the barn I heard a familiar voice. I walked on the barn and saw one of my friends from school.

"ZACKY!!"

I ran up to him and jumped. He caught me and we both laughed.

"So I guess someone is happy to see the crazy farm kid in college."

Mom said, "Do you think you can get over your fear of horses?"

Zack said, "I'll be right there with you."

"Well..."

Mom said, "Please?"

There was no giving this one up so I said, "Fine."

Zack got a set of spurs off the wall. They used to be mine. I put them on my boots. Zack grabbed a saddle and mounted one horse.

Mom said, "Can you 2 handle this yourselfs?"

I looked at Zack and he said, "Yes we can."

Zack is up here for Farm Management at University of Virginia. I forgot he was hired by Mom. We have been close friends for like ever. He helped me get up and he got on his horse.

"Follow me, we will go easy."

I said, "I sure hope so."

We got on the trail that goes on the woods.

"How bad has it been for you?"

I didn't know what he meant at first, "Horrible. Dad is worse."

"Really?"

"He attacked me after the Bristol race for Sprint Cup. He threw me down and kicked me and knocked my head against the floor."

Zack just looked down, I said, "He won't even talk to me."

We rode for about 2 hours. I kinda miss barrel racing now but it would never work out with racing. It is not like Dad would let me anyhow.

We got back to the barn and Mom said, "You guys were out for 2 hours! You see Lilly. Not that bad."

"I guess."

It sounded like a loud car maybe truck pulled up, mom said, "I wonder who that is. I'll go look."

Zack and I put the 2 horses back, it was Dad because we heard, "You let her what?! She has to get and race in a truck the 28th and she has to win!"

I went to walk out of the barn and Zack grabbed my shoulders, I turned around and he said, "Don't he'll hurt you."

"Wouldn't be the first time."

Dad saw me and walked over, "Why the hell did you do that?"

"Oh hi Dad. Glad to see you will speak to me considering its been 4 damn weeks."
