The First Day

Ok chicken alfredo is the best thing I have tasted. I thought my mom was exaggerating when she was talking about how much I loved that stuff. I stuffed my face and ate myself sick but you know what, I regret nothing. I'm not the smallest girl there is. I'm average, 5'3.5 and size medium. At this moment I'm comfortable and my insecurities are minimal except for the marks left on my body after the accident.

After dinner we sat in the living room and watched The Big Bang Theory while eating popcorn and talking about anything else that was not school related. Something was bothering me though. It felt like there was something missing. I racked my brain for something, anything but nothing came up so I gave up on the idea and decided it was time for bed at 10. As I was walking down to my room I noticed a box stacked against the wall opposite to my room. I was about to walk over to it but my dad had come down after me so I let it be and forgot about it shortly after.

After my dad left to go back upstairs I slipped on some sweatpants and a tank top. I went and sat some boots by my outfit and laid a necklace on my desk also. It was simple really, a small gold chain with a tiny heart attached to it. Mom told my I always wore it, so I will. On my desk there sat a picture of four people. Three girls and one boy. Me, and Jasmine Harrison, a girl with caramel colored hair like the one in my memory, and a boy with dark hair, a slim build, and a huge smile on his face. Actually we all had massive smiles on our faces. I felt that familiar feeling in my head where I want to so badly remember something but nothing happens. I leave the thought and walk away from the desk and picture when I see something sticking out from underneath my bed and I lean down to grab it. I pull it out to find a sweatshirt. I'm about to toss it off to the side when I see a football stitched into the fabric in the front. I flip it over to see ADAMS is stitched into the back. Why would I have a football sweatshirt? I sigh but can't help but put it on. It was big on me but it was warm and soft. I tucked myself in and fell asleep easily with no nightmares waking me.

"Mom I can't do this." I plead as we pull up to the entrance of the school. "I'm not ready, don't make me do this." I beg but she stands her ground and unlocks the car. I open the door and give her a look. She smiles and roles down the window.
"Love you Blake! Have a great day!" I realize she has to go to work but she could have at least came into the school with me to get my schedule and talk to the people in the office. Hopefully I can at least find the office.
"Well shit." I whisper to myself. I realize I've been standing on the sidewalk for too long so I start slowly walking towards the building. More cars pull up then leave, some park and get out with coffee in their hands. I hate coffee. I smile to myself and feel proud that I can remember something so dumb and pointless.

I walk through the doors and barely get a good look at the place before I'm almost tackled by Jasmine Harrison.

"I'm so happy you are here! Are you excited? Wait its school, why would you be excited. Wait until everyone sees you! What are your classes? Do you even know them? I love your outfit by the way." She speaks without missing a breath. I stare at her and she stares right back smiling wide.

"Um Jasmine.."

"Call me Jazz!" She interrupts.

"Ok Jazz can you show me the office please?" She immediately grabs my arm and pulls me along with her as she speed walks through crowds of people until we reach a glass door with "office" in big blue letters above it.

She opens the door and I walk in.

"Barb, Blakely needs a schedule." I'm thrown off at first by her up front attitude and slightly shocked by this "Barb's" reaction.

"Ms. Harrison did you have a good break?" Barb asked. She had extremely curly brown hair that didn't touch her shoulders. She had big hoop earrings in and wore a striped looking pants suit with heels.

"Of course I did! Anytime away from this place is golden." Jazz says back grinning. Barb laughs and says something about showing up on time more this semester then turns to me.

"Ms. Adams welcome back." She nods at me. "I imagine this is all a bit much for you." Before I could respond a man walks out of a room in the back. He's wearing dress pants and a tie and is eating a donut.

"Blakely! It's good to have you back in school!" He says coming up to me and sticking his hand out wanting me to shake it. "One of the best students I've had in a long time."

"Um, its good to be back sir." I had no idea what to say. I don't know what he teaches or what his name is.

"Here," Barb says quickly. "If your have any questions at all just ask Ms. Harrison over here, or just come in here and ask if you get sick of her." Jasmine laughs and shakes her and grabs my arm and waves back at Barb as we leave the office.

"She's my aunt, if you have forgotten." Jazz says quietly. "She married into the family." I ignore that comment and ask where my first class is.

"Calculous, didn't miss that class over break." She says to herself I'm pretty sure. "Follow me we have that class together. If you need any help remembering names or anything like that I'm here."

"Thank you." I respond and look at her. She's taller then I am by quite a bit. Suddenly I'm taken back to a time where I'm dressed as a cop. Adjusting my hat and fixing my makeup one last time before Jazz comes into the room dressed in an identical outfit.
"Ready for the party?" She asks holding her plastic gun and pointing it aimlessly in the air.

"One second." I say putting one last swipe of mascara one before standing up and following her outside. "When are they expecting us?"

"About 10 minutes ago but we've got all night so who cares?" She says as we get into her little blue car. "This is supposed to be the best party all year." She states turning on the ignition. "I pray Tucker will be there."

"I'm pretty sure Jared only invited the junior class Jazz." I said back

"Well maybe he'll come and sweep me off my feet then take me away and fuck me until I can't stand." She says back with a wink.

"Your impossible." I say and we both laugh.

"What are you smiling about?" Jazz asks and I smile at her, not a forced one, a real genuine smile.

"Just a memory." I said. "By the way what ever happened to you and Tucker the night of the Halloween party junior year?" I tease and she slaps my arm.

"Tucker was just a crush at the time. Honestly he was totally gross. Drugs and alcohol, I don't know what I ever say in him!" She says back laughing. All of a sudden the bell rang and Jazz and I started walking to Calculous.

The morning went by faster then expected, and strangely it wasn't that hard to get back into classes. No one talked to me, and I didn't make a move to talk to anyone either but I was OK with that.

At lunch I sat by Jazz at a table with a huge pizza box on it. Two other girls were already sitting down and also a guy. Jazz sits down and pulls me down next to her.

"That's Kayla and the black haired one is Dakota." I nod and she continues, "That's Andrew, Kayla's twin brother."

"Blakes your back!" Kayla jumps up and runs over and hugs me from behind. She's got a tight grip but its comfortable and I can't help but already feel close with her.

"Whatcha been up to lately?" Andrew asks and Kayla walks over and slaps him over the head.

"Andrew you can't just ask her that! She's been you know.." She pauses and looks at me apologetically.

"It's fine. I've been good." I smile at him and he smiles back. He's got an adorable smile with shaggy blonde hair. He's just too cute. Anyone can tell by just looking at him.

"Hey where's Carson?" Dakota asks he'd defiantly want to see this. Nodding her head towards me.

"He said he'd be here, I talked to him last night and told him that this would be Blakely's first day back." Jazz responds. "He's so excited to see you."

Lunch continues as the group makes small talk but there was no sign of Carson.
