"You can't protect the future." A voice whispered.
I woke up confused. My head's pounding and my heart's aching. I try to sit up but the pain I soon felt kept me from doing so. I tried again, this time ignoring the pain. My eyes gaze around the empty, dark, room. I immediately became worried about the gem and the black holes.
They aren't here...
I need to look for them. Now.
"Where's... My.... Friends." I croaked out to absolutely nothing. Nothing but silence.
I need to find them.
I put my hands on the floor, trying to push my weight up. Another surge of pain came over me and I fell onto the cement concrete. The rough brittle ground scrapped my face causing cuts. I would wince if I had the energy to. I tried again. And again. And again.
And failed every time.
I sat a while, contemplating my escape. My tenacious behavior could cost me my life. At that moment I heard footsteps. Quick footsteps. Fear overcame my senses. A man with a mask on came inside what seemed to be a cell. He walked inside with an axe in hand and began to speak in a slow stern voice.
"What did you see?"
I had no intent on telling him anything. I'm still breathing hard and my mind is running faster then I can handle. My sore throat barely lets out a sound.
"I... Don't... Understand..."
Silence followed.
"Lies."
He spoke again making the room even more tense.
"You lie!"
He screamed jamming the handle of the hammer into my dry skin. (B/c) bled from the back of my hands as I winced in pain.
"What. Did. You. See?"
My eyes watered.
"Where... are my friends?"
His axe planted itself in my back. My (B/c) blood was everywhere. It spread across the whole room. I screamed and hollered in pain but the man just stood above me unfazed.
"What. Did. You. See?"
He slowly pulled the axe out of my back. I heard it gush and ripple and tear.
"Nothing."
Suddenly I felt immense pressure on my side and my body unwillingly flung against the wall. I harshly fell onto the cold floor. My eyes barely open I looked up.
He was walking towards me.
He took slow agonizing steps. Dirt and sediment crumbled under his feet. My breathing went eradicate and my body trembled in fear. The scent of my own blood made me nauseous and I felt like vomiting. He came closer. But before he could hew my face an alarm went off. It was short loud intervals of harsh high pitched screams; unlike the one that went off when I stole the gem. This alarm was utterly unbearable. It's screeching sounds were horrifying.
He stopped walking. As if time had stopped and had froze him in place. Suddenly he jolted out of the room leaving me there. Surprise was an understatement. After he left I felt this was the perfect opportunity for my escape. I forced my body up leaning against the blood stained wall. The alarm still hollered but I was too determined to care.
"I will kill you... Bill Cipher."
