Quite a few years after graduation and all of Max's training and registration, Emily stopped by Max's house and gussied herself up in her makeup mirror, hoping to make a good impression on him. Max's mother soon opened the door. "Hiya Emily, Max is still getting ready in his uniform, but please come in and let's just talk for the time being." His mother said, seeming quite annoyed. Emily walked inside the room and sat on the couch. Marina was watching Teletubbies on the floor, and Emily joined her and played around with Max's mom in the kitchen.
Max heard Emily talking to Marina, and sighed. "Well, I really did it. I can't believe I'm really joinin the marines" he said, standing infront of a mirror in his uniform. His father was helping him look a little better, knowing of his crush on Emily. "Hey son, why did you join the Marines? That I do not understand." Max told his father that it was a secret for later. "Okay okay, you're ready. Now son, do one thing for me: make me proud." His father said as they left the room and hugged.
Later at the airport, everyone was saying their goodbyes. Marina started crying, and her father did a little as well. Finally, it was Emily's turn. She walked up to him and said "wow, I can't believe it. After all of this, you were serious, and I'm sorry about not believing you." Max forgave her, and Emily finally did what she wanted to do. She then awkwardly hugged him, and said goodbye, as he walked through the security line and wasn't to be seen again.
Emily sat on her friend Kaylee's bed crying after she got back. She was having a sleepover with her friend to try to think about her choices with Max, and her mistakes. "I can't believe I couldn't work up the nerve to tell him I liked him! I won't see him for atleast a year now, what if he forgets about me?" Emily said. Kaylee laughed and exclaimed "Don't be ridiculous! Max, forget about you??? I doubt it highly. You guys were friends forever! It would amaze me to see him forget about you." Emily sighed and hugged Kaylee. "Thanks girl, what I wouldn't give to have a friend like you."
