It was midnight. The stars glowed in a soft light above Lark and Fox. Lark sharpened her spear by the crackling fire. Her face was numb from the cold, Fox was curled up by the fire, his black hair tumbling over the feather filled pillow. 'We haven't had food for awhile.' She thought, sighing. 'Maybe..I could go out for awhile.' She thought as she put her spear down. Lark took off to the sky. How free she was, in the sky, never having to come down. The moon was nowhere to be seen, just the scattered stars, the galaxies. 'We will get to the cave. We will get to the kingdoms. I will become queen of WaterBird.' She thought as she flew closer to the ground. A small tawny colored mouse squeaked and scrambled to its borrow. Lark swooped and broke its neck with her claws. The campfire was visible in the night sky as she landed, Fox was still asleep, not making a sound. Skewering the Mouse on a rough stick, she held it over the fire, letting it roast. She could pick it apart later on. After she had eaten the Mouse and had gotten rid of the remains, she laid down on the soft and uneven floors of the forest and slept.
When Lark had awoken, she expected to see the sun crawling out to the sky, instead, a teenage girl was looking over her, with a curious face. "Who are you?" Lark jolted upwards. "It's okay. She came to us last night. She has a tribe in the mountains, she wants to do no harm, she actually says her tribe is sacred and no one knows it's there." Fox said with round eyes. Lark narrowed her eyes at the girl. The girl had very long hair, it was as long as her back. The girl was very slim and had a pale face with ice blue eyes. The oddest thing about her was that she had pure white hair. Yet, she was as old as Lark and Fox. "What is your name?" Lark asked. "Arianell. It means Silver, in my people's language." The girl said. For the first time in her life, Lark was jealous. The girl had a gorgeous silver and white dress and pure white slippers. She was so delicate and dainty. It was hard to believe how beautiful she was. Lark looked at Fox and growled slightly. Fox apparently was trying hard not to stare. "Your position in your tribe?" Lark asked, her eyebrows raised. "Chief's daughter, heir to the throne. Also, I saw you turn into a Falcon. I can do it too. I am a White Wolf." The girl said with confidence and force. "Please, come stay with my tribe. We can give you more food and help you. We love travelers. We can get you one room... If you two are married." Arianell questioned softly. "We aren't. But, we'll take it anyway." Lark told Arianell quickly. "Yes, of course. Please, follow me." Arianell said as she gracefully led them up to the mountains. Fox glanced at Lark with wide eyes. Lark narrowed hers. This would be quite a trip. Lark growled inside. She didn't love Fox. Or, did she?
