The Story of Mercy (Invader Zim story)

Lunch is Awful

At lunch, I sit with Dib and Gaz, like I normally do. We talk about things that happened with us, then we start talking about this one kid, Zim, who has green skin. Weird. Dib swears up and down he's an alien, Gaz said that he is an alien but she doesn't care to much, and I'm not sure yet. I guess I'll need more proof. I glance over at Zim, he seems to be starring a our table, all of us. Like he's observing us. Weird. But, the main thing we talk about is how Thanksgiving is coming up. I normally don't celebrate it, me living in an alley and all, but this year Dib is asking me something I never would have expected, "So, Mercy?"
"Yes?" I ask
"Thanksgiving is coming up, and I was wondering, if maybe..." Dib pauses, but Gaz jumps in.
"He wants to know if you'll come and eat with us." She says all at once
"Oh, uh, I don't know..." I say
"Good." Gaz says
"What the hell, Gaz I thought we were friends?" I say
"Yeah, sure. Just let me finish this level." She says
"Your playing your game under the table, huh?"
"Yeah." She says
"Go figure." I say
"But seriously, why not?" Dib asks
"I don't know, I just don't want to." I say
Two boys who obviously play football walk by, one says "Hey Mercy, you planning on crying again anytime soon?"
I look down at my try of half eaten food, the other boy shoves my face into it. Causing, Gaz to look up, and Dib to almost get up and give them a piece of him mind, I'm glad he didn't because they would have killed him. I lift my head up, and shove food of my face nod out of my hair. I hear noises from Gaz's game and she looks back down, she gets mad and looks at the boys.
"You made me lose my level." She says sounding surprisingly calm.
"Oh, no. Your definitely going to regret doing that." Dib says
They laugh, "yeah, sure, whatever little girl. You gonna go home and cry about it? Maybe go play with your little pony's?"
"Oh my god! Do you have any idea who you just said that to?" Dib says
Gaz stood up on her chair, looking straight into what I can imagine was their souls, she said, "Your punishment will come, and when it does, it will be slow and painful, you will always rue the day, you messed with Gazlene Membrane." She said sounding like she put a curse on them, she sat down took a bite of her pizza and started back on her game. She glanced up at the boys, sighed and said, "Oh, uh, I'm done now."
They both ran out of the room.
"I tried to worn them." Dib says
"This is why she's deemed as a freak." I say, "Dib, Your deemed as crazy, and I'm deemed as a punching bag..."
Yeah, a punching bag...
