I was in a room. It was lit, and looking toward the wall, I saw that torches holding burning flames were the source of the light. Hearing the sound of footsteps, I turned around, and saw Thesesus walking toward me. He had a mischevious smile on his face, and his eyes scanned me from head to toe.
I instantly felt self-conscioius, and swallowing, I took a step back, wanting to get as much distance between the two of us as I could. He took a big step towards me in response, and before I could think, he was holding my wrists in his large hands. I struggled, trying to get out of his grip, but he kept his grip firm.
"Let me go!" I screamed at him, kicking his shins. This didn't seem to hurt him, though he was looking a little annoyed. "Helen, please stop kicking me." His voice was calm and patient, like he was talking to a child. "No." I said stubbornly, and I began to kick him harder. He sighed, before scooping down and picking me up. Suddenly, I found myself in his arms. He was holding me so gently, I was almost convinced he wasn't bad. Almost.
"What do you want?" I growled at him. He looked down at me with a pleading look to his eyes. I was momentarily taken back by his stare. "I want you to be happy." His voice was so quiet and sincere, I had to strain to hear him. "If you wanted me to be happy you shouldn't have kidnapped me!" I snapped at him. My loud outburst echoed off the walls. Then there was silence.
"Please Helen. Try to be happy. That's all I ask of you." His voice sounded so soft now, so reassuring, I found myself unsure for the first time. Then, he leaned forward and his lips lightly touched mine. When I didn't try to push away, he continued to kiss me. I felt myself slipping away, losing all control, and kissing him back.....
"Wake up Rosie! Come on, it's time to get up!" A voice was calling to me. I felt my arm being shook. Letting out a small moan of protest, I opened my eyes. There was so much light. I squinted my eyes and blinked a couple of times, trying to get a hold of my surrondings. I looked around the room, at the dresser and the doors. There was a big window to my right. And standing by my bedside, looking down at me was Sally.
It hit me suddenly, and I remembered everything. I was in Theseus's mansion. He had kidnapped me, and this was the room he had made me stay in. Last night I had tried to escape, but had failed. Then, late at night, I had walked down the halls, eventually finding an office where I was able to find a DWI report from Theseus, which I was going to use to blackmail him with. I had then heard someone walking down the hall, and I had escaped the office as quickly as I could, only to run into my personal maid, Sally. After telling her that I wanted some water, we had gone into the kitchen to get me some. I had been marveling at how beautiful the kitchen and the dining room was when the vision had occured.
My head instantly throbbed thinking about it, but the details were still clear. I had witnessed Theseus, King of Athens, giving a feast to his closest friends, families and advisors, in celebration of the capture of Helen of Sparta. I had been skeptical, but when I had seen Helen, it had been hard to doubt I was her. We had looked identical, down to the small beauty mark located on our left shoulder.
I tried to shake the memory away, not wanting to think too much about the vision, or if it could even be real. It had to have been just a hallucination. Being with someone who believed he was reincarnated really was starting to make me go crazy. But it had seemed so vivid, so realy, it was hard to say it had been fake. But then, if it was a recollection of the past, why hadn't she expreinced any before? The closest she'd had to a vision before last night was earlier in the day when she had seen Theseus resembling a king in the limo. But even then, it hadn't been a real flashback. Nothing like last night.
By now, Sally had moved away from my bed and was pulling items of clothing out of my closet. Curious, I pulled myself up, and got up from the large bed. I walked over to the closet. "What are you doing?" I asked her. She barely glanced over before answering me. "Theseus told me what you'll be wearing today. I'm just getting your outfit out of the closet."
I was momentarily baffled. Theseus was now picking out my outfits too? I gave a short, humorless laugh. "That's okay, Sally." I informed her, trying to keep my annoyance contained. "I'm perfectly capable of choosing my own outfits." I could hear the anger in my voice, though I'd tried not to show it. "I'm sorry Rosy, but Theseus specifically instructed me on what he would like you to wear today." Sally replied.
She sounded bored with the conversation, and I knew there would be no way to convince her otherwise, so I walked over to the huge bed. Sighing, I flopped down on it, staring up at the ceiling.
My mind wandered aimlessly until Sally finally came over, holding a small bundle of clothing. She gently placed them onto my bed before speaking.
"Theseus will be escorting you to brunch in half an hour's time." She said in an even, expressionless voice. I nodded, and she retreated to the door. I didn't look at the pile until she had shut the door behind her.
The dress was light purple and seemed to be made of silk. Lifting it up, I put it in front of me, and saw that the dress was short. I took a deep breath, trying to figure out why he would want me to wear something so short when we weren't even going out.
The shoes were stilletos, with at least six inch heels. The heels were extremely skinny, and I wondered how I would be able to walk in them without breaking them or tripping. They were teal colored, with a skinny silk strap that tied around the ankle.
I threw the impractical shoes back on the bed, and rubbed my eyes. The last thing I wanted to do was eat brunch with the guy who had kidnapped me, no matter how good looking he was. And Theseus was really good looking....I shook my head, forcing myself to focus. Now was defiently not the time to be thinking about Theseus's good looks.
I knew that the only way I would get answers would be to go to brunch with Theseus. I needed to figure out more about my past and the vision I had in the kitchen and my dream from last night. The dream was so vivid; I found it hard to believe it hadn't actually happened. I had no doubt that the visions would continue, and I needed to figure out what they meant. What caused them? When did they happen? Was there a way to stop them?
Knowing it was inevitable, I grabbed the dress and shoes off the bed and went into the bathroom. I started getting ready by taking a shower. As the warm water came into contact with my skin, I was able to release the tension I was feeling. As my muscles loosened, I was finally able to get my scattered thoughts in order.
I was going to get answers today, no matter how much effort it took me. I wasn't going to wait for Ryan and Nick to "save" me. I was perfectly capable of getting myself out of here. I was going to figure out more about the visions from Theseus, and then I was going to blackmail him.
Getting my plan sorted, I tried to ignore the guilt that kept eating at me. I was regretting having to blackmail Theseus. I didn't like to be mean to people, and blackmailing someone was defiently the meanest thing I had ever done in my life. But I knew it was my ticket out, no matter what Prue said, and that was what kept me from backing out.
Once I was out of the shower, I blowdried my hair until it was dry. Then I pulled on the tight dress, struggling tremendously with the zipper that ran along the whole back of the dress. Once I had successfully gotten it zipped, I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My golden blonde hair reached halfway down my back, wavy and shining in the light. My blue eyes looked wide and curious, my full lips frowning.
I looked away from the mirror and down at the counter, where numerous cosmetic items were located. I picked one up, curious, and saw that it was mascara. I raised an eyebrow and snorted. Yeah, like I was going to wear makeup for Theseus?! I put the mascara back down and walked out of bathroom.
Once I was back in the bedroom, I checked the time, and saw that Theseus would be coming in less than five minutes. I sighed, knowing I would have to put on the deathtrap shoes. I leaned down, slipping the stilletoes on. Using the bed post for support, I put my weight down on the skinny heel, testing its stability. I wobbled a little at first, but after a few cautious steps, I was able to walk without almost falling.
It was then that there was a knock on the door. I looked toward the door and took a deep breath. Here went nothing.
