School days dragged on that I never noticed I have already spent a whole month and a half here at York. I have made a couple of girl friends who happened to be both in almost all of my classes, Laila, a petite brunette who at first I found weird because she was literally a walking encyclopedia. She was plain looking and was never interested in guys. Never had a boyfriend and never wanted to have one. According to her if a guy beat her grades in all the major subjects we have, then she may reconsider. While the other one is Mia, the short haired blond, with blue eyes, cute nose, and the most talkative one. I bet you she can talk all day without hurting her vocal chords. We always tease her that maybe she was already talking ever since she was born! She was quite the feisty and obnoxious one but she becomes tamed once her boyfriend, Ron, was around, who also happened to be a varsity player for the basketball team, just like Dylan. We eat lunch together and share our passion to read books and spend time to study at the library. That's why we clicked.

I haven't told them anything about Matthew as he has been ignoring me since that night at the diner. And the girls and I kinda started hanging out together just a few days after.

Although I caught him a few times staring at me at the parking lot or when we pass by the hallways,  he never greeted or acknowledged me that you'd think we haven't met each other. But as always, his mere presence made my stomach in knots and I always felt a flutter inside me everytime I caught his gaze. He still looked at me in that certain way that I feel I am so special and much more than ordinary. But I didn't know what happened that he just decided to make me invisible. He never said hi nor even smiled at me. Nothing. Maybe he was hurt of what I told him at the diner. But it was true. He can't have both Casey and me at the same time. Well maybe I was really part to blame as I had led him on thinking that it was fine as I've let him kiss me not just once but twice! I heard from Rain that Casey decided to take the year off to concentrate on the Broadway play. So I thought maybe Matthew chose to be loyal, for once, as Casey was away.

"Hey Fiona", Mia called out when we were about to go to the cafeteria for lunch.

"That hot guy from the hockey team was checking you out earlier. Not that he was the only one checking you out but I would think the whole of the hockey team, half of York's guy population, and some of Ron's basketball teammates including Dylan of course, which you happen to be oblivious of as you are being your prudish naive self that sometimes I'm asking myself if you are interested in guys or are you into --girls?! But he was staring at you like he wanted to eat you!" she blabbered in one breath that I was amazed she did not choke or suffocate.

"Yeah, I saw that, too,"Laila butted in. " I think his name was Matthew or something."He was staring at you in an odd way, I can say. So much like that you knew each other, or there's something going on between you two, cause you're giving him that same look he was giving you".

Damn! She was that observant, was I that too obvious?

"Oh my god, you two! I beg to disagree but I am so much into guys, thank you very much! As to Dylan,no way! He will never check me out cause he's my bestfriend. And that hockey player you mentioned is Rain's boyfriend's bestfriend. He's engaged to be married. I knew his fiancee as she is Rain's bestfriend. I can never compete with her. She is so gorgeous I will certainly check her out if I were a guy", I silently pray that my friends will lay off the topic as this was quite a sensitive subject for me, and I was being a terrible liar.

But Mia won't budge. " I heard that their engagement was off cause the girl became an actress and needs to go away", she continued. "Maybe he's looking for a rebound with a fresh meat, though Dylan will not be a poor choice. Gosh! Those green eyes were enough to make me putty in his arms", eyeing me while playfully wriggling her eyebrows.
