That's Dana ^^^^
Iris's P.O.V
I wake up trying to figure out where I was. I look over and see that I was laying on Ashton. Shit. His eyes open and I quickly get up.
"Erm sorry." I say getting off the couch.
"No it's fine." He smiles.
"Heh... I should be getting home."
"I thought you didn't know where home was?" Ashton asks rubbing his eyes.
Ugh. Right. "I'll ask my mom." I pull out my phone and message her.Me: what's our address?
Mom: 215 Lakeside RD where the hell were you all night?
I ignore her and lock my phone. Michael comes downstairs and smiles. "Hey Iris!"
"Hi Michael." I return a faint smile. "Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah. Pretty good. Um- can you take me home?"
"Yeah sure." He says pulling on his shoes. I follow him out the door and into the car. He clicks on the radio and adjusts the volume. It was silent the whole way to my place. We pull up and I open the door.
"Iris?"
"Yeah Michael?"
"Do you wanna hang out tomorrow? I have nothing better to do."
"Yeah that'd be fun." I smile and close the door.
I walk up to my porch and watch Michael drive off.
I really didn't wanna be here.
I sigh and open the front door hearing the yelling voices drown throughout the house. I roll my eyes and head towards my room.
I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I take it out and see it was Michael.Michael: Hey, what do you think about 12 tomorrow?
Me: sounds great! Can't wait.
Michael: me either. what's up?
Me: nothing really about to take a shower. How about you?
Michael: Listening to Ashton complain about my friend Luke.
Me: Haha how fun. I'm gonna take a shower. Talk to you later.
I lock my phone and walk into the bathroom undressing. I jump in and switched it to freezing water. I sit down and bring my knees up to my chest and cry. I didn't know why I suddenly started crying, but I couldn't stop. 20 minutes later the tears stop, now I'm just left here breathing heavily contemplating life. I'm stuck in between a nightmare and lost dreams. The waters still ice cold. My hands and legs were purple, I could see my veins on my arms. I finish and get dressed, throwing my hair into a damp bun. My mom opens the door. "Come get lunch."I roll my eyes," I'm not hungry." She tells me to come down anyway. I groan and head downstairs. No one even looks up at me. I slump down in the chair and take out my phone. "We're registering you in school today." My dad says putting his dish in the sink. "Why?"
"Cause you need to go to school and get an education." "Yay." I answer bluntly and stood up. "Where were you last night?" My mother asks sitting me back down. "With my friend." "You have friends?" Nathan laughed. "Iris we just moved here how could you already have a friend?"
"I met him at the park."
"Him?" My dad butts in.
"Yeah Him. His name is Michael and he is really nice." Before they could say anything else I stand up and go to my room to get ready. I keep my hair up and apply a little bit of eyeliner and mascara. I change into my Twenty Øne Piløts shirt and Black leggings. I grab my shoes and put them on while heading downstairs again. "Ready?" I walk past my mom and plug in my earphones. I wait in the car for a good 5 minutes until my mom comes walking out. We're in front of the school and I tell my mom I'm not going in there. I wait in the car blasting Green Day through my earphones. It was a little over 30 minutes when my mom came back to the car.She decides to go do errands while I'm with her. I stay in the car the whole time. Once we got home it's dark. I go upstairs and go to sleep. (I just wanted it to be the next day already)
It's 11:30 by the time I wake up. I am supposed to hang out with Michael at 12. I get up and get ready, straightening my hair, reapplying my make up, I finally finish putting on my grey beanie.
I see Michael sitting on the swings on his phone.
"Hey." I say sitting on the swing next to him. He looks up and smiles "Hey." He locks his phone and places it in his pocket. "What's our plan?" I ask beginning to swing.
"I wanna show you something."
He jumps off the swing and waits for me to slow down. Once I was slow enough I jumped off and landed on my feet.
"Come on." He makes his way down a dirt trail while I follow.
We spend our time talking about our interests. He's really into music, he's in a band and he dyes his hair way to much. I told him how I loved to write stories, poems and songs.
He stops walking without warning and I bump into him. "Shit sorry." I laugh.
"It's okay. We're here." He smiles and I look where he's pointing. It's a swinging bridge above a river. I instantly got excited and ran to the bridge. I've always loved places like this. "It's beautiful." I whisper.
"It is. I come here a lot to clear my head." He sits down and dangles his legs off the edge.
I place myself next to him and stare out into the rushing water. It was so quiet. No yelling. No crying. No screaming. Just chirping birds, rushing water and crickets. Dana would've loved this. I look up at the clear sky holding back the tears.
"You okay?" Michael grew worried.
I smile and blink away my tears. "Yeah. It's just peaceful out here. I've never been anywhere so quiet before."
"It is really great out here. When my parents fight I just run here and lay down listening to the wars between the water and the rocks." He's staring out into the water but he isn't smiling. He's frowning. "Did something happen?" I ask.
"Just another fight nothing new." He shrugged.
"Trust me I know how that is." I sigh and stare into the sky. I watch the birds soar around in groups. They were chirping loudly, I wondered if they were fighting. Do animals argue just like humans do? Over stupid pathetic things? Probably over who stole who's worm.
"What are you thinking about?" Michael looked up at the sky with me. "Birds."
"Birds?" His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Yeah. I wonder if they fight just like humans."
"I think they do. But they sing it. Like those cheesy musicals. They sing to express their feelings."
"They must have a lot of feelings." I say listening to all the chirping around me.
"You have no idea."
We sit there in silence for a couple minutes just enjoying the silence.
"I wanna show you one last place. Follow me." He stands up and goes the opposite way we came from.
I follow his steps into the forest. "Is this the part you tell me you're a serial killer and you just brought me out here to kill me?" I ask stepping over a few logs.
"Haha funny. Of course not. We're almost there."
We walk for a few more minutes until we stopped.
"I made this." He said with a big grin. I look at the fort made of branches and mud. There were little flowers sticking out from the mud. Some dead but still had beauty. "Whoa. How long did this take you?"
I walk in and see a seat made of mud of course. It was dry so I sat down. "Eh, roughly 3-4 months." He shrugs and takes a seat next to me.
"This is amazing." I was breathless.
"I like to camp in here sometimes."
I examine the fort more. It was about 7 feet tall so I could actually stand up.
"So you put these flowers in here?" I look at a purple tulip that was dying but not quite there yet.
"Yep. Every flower has it's own story. Stories I keep inside these flowers. Manly huh?" He laughs at himself. "So manly." I laugh with him. He stands up and takes the purple tulip out and places it in my hair.
"Now that you have that flower I must tell you the story."
"Oh! Story time." I sit down and wait for the story to begin.
"That was the first flower I ever gave my mom for Mother's Day. When things were you know happy. I was on my way back to school and saw this one flower sticking up from the ground. It was the only living one. So I took it home and placed it on my moms pillow with a note attached to it. The note just said how she was a great mother. The smile on her face when she saw the flower was heart warming. Her eyes were full of life and happiness it was the best sight id ever seen of my mom. It's one of my favorite memories." He was smiling at his hands. Tears brimmed his eyes and I got up and hugged him. He hugged me back burying his head in the crook of my neck. We finally pulled apart and smiled.
"I won't take the flower. It holds a beautiful memory." I begin to take the flower from my hair.
"No don't. I want you to have it. Please keep it."
I sighed and place it back into my hair.
I hadn't realized how much time had passed it was already 5:30. "We should probably get going."
"Yeah." He agreed as we began our long journey back home.
****
"Bye Michael." I say before closing my front door. "Bye Iris." He smiles and walks away.
It was 6:28 by the time I got home.
"Good just in time for dinner." My mom said with annoyance clear in her voice.
"I'm not hungry. I'm going to bed." I head upstairs and change into something comfortable and lay in bed.
"Hey." I jolt up and look at Dana who was sitting next to me.
"You scared me." I say holding my chest.
"Sorry." She says looking around my room.
"How can I see you?"
I've been asking myself this since yesterday.
"Cause you want to. No I'm not a ghost I'm a figment of your imagination. It's hard to explain. When you lose someone you love very much you tend to see them everywhere you go. It's your mind refusing to let that person go." She explained.
"So you're not real?"
"Of course I am."
"I'm confused still."
"Let's keep it that way. Now get some sleep."
I lay my head on the pillow while Dana disappears. My heart aches every time she leaves. I miss her. I want her back but I know she's never coming back cause I watched as they lowered her body into the grave. Flashbacks of that day replayed in my head.
We lay down and grab each others hand. "Thank you for caring." I smile.
"And thank you for being there for me.... See you on the other side." She returns the smile and closes her eyes.
I blink the memory away and wipe my tears. She was really gone. I plug in my earphones and turn it up so loud it drowned out my thoughts.
Soon enough I was asleep and was dreaming of that day.I FINALLY UPDATED! I know it's been awhile I'm sorry. I do not have writers block my writer just hates the clock.
Heh see what I did there? Only cool people would get it |-/
