Metal Gear Solid: Venom Rising

The Man Who Couldn't Sell The World, Mother Base, September 16th 1986

"Welcome Boss, as you can see while you have been out in the field, the R&D unit has been developing many different items for you and the men of Diamond Dogs to use when conducting missions, first of all...? Huh, Boss are you ok?" asked Miller. "I'm fine, Kaz just could you leave me to get some rest please?" said Snake. "Yeah!, Sure thing... um sorry Boss" Miller said with a tone of embarrassment in his voice.

Snake walked up the cold metal stairs towards his quarters on the top-floor of this platform on Mother Base. Suddenly Snake noticed a dark shadow in the corner of his eye, he spun around gun at the ready. What he saw was a man that looked exactly like him, a doppelganger or in other words his 'Phantom', "Kept, you waiting huh!" said the figure. "Especially, For The Man Who Sold The World" replied Snake. "Ah yes, Snake it is me Big Boss" "But I thought you where in Africa?" "I was but I thought I would come and see how things where getting on here at Diamond Dogs, but don't worry I've talked to Ocelot and kept him up to speed" then he was gone, Big Boss had vanished, with no trace. Snake continued walking then stopped at the next set of stairs and fumbled around his bag and produced a copy of 'Only Time Will Tell' by Asia, this was one of his favourite's, and put the cassette his Walkman.

The song started "You're leaving now, It's in your eyes, There's no disguising it...", Snake continued climbing the never-ending stairs and finally he reached the top and continued walking "Lost, like the tears that you used to tide me over" the song kept playing as Snake reached his quarters he opened the door stepped in and shut it behind him "One thing is sure, That time will tell" then he pressed stop on the Walkman the song ended on "It really comes as no surprise." Then suddenly the room became quiet as Snake took off his combat clothes and changed into his Pyjamas. Then Snake lay his head down on the pillow and fell asleep.
