Rosamund blinked awake dazedly, the sun shining in her face from the bus window nearby.
"Urgh!" She groaned, closing her eyes to sheild them against the harsh light.
"What's up, Rosie?" Rosamund heard a voice, and peeked through her eyelashes to see Estrella's face, upside down as she hung from the bunk above her.
"Uhh- just woke up." She replied, rubbing her eyes and sitting up slowly. Her blonde hair was all over the place, so she ran her fingers through it in the hope of making it a little less messy. She was on the bottom bunk today, because the other night she had been on the top bunk, and in the morning she had fallen out of bed, landing painfully on the floor, because she wasn't thinking and just jumped out as if the bed was on floor level.
"Rosie?" Estrella's upside down face frowned slightly,
"Mm?"
"Do you think Duff is a good guy?" She asked. Rosamund paused the rough combing of her hair to spare Estrella a confused glance,
"What are you talking about?" She inquired.
"Well- I was in this relationship with a guy back home, right? I've told you about him." A small crease appeared between Estrella's eyebrows,
"Yeah..." there was a slight pause.
"And now it's over, and that hurts." She said.
"So you think Duff would do what you did to Eddie?" Rosamund concluded, and Estrella bit her lip, nodding.
"Look- I think Duff really likes you, and he would find a way to keep seeing you. I'm sure of that." Rosamund assured her, "he's a good guy, and he seems to be really caught up on you."
"You think so?" Estrella's upside down expression was a hopeful one.
"Yeah!" Rosamund smiled, and Estrella gave her a little smile in return.
"Thanks, Rosie." Estrella said sincerely,
"No problem, noodle." She grinned.
"Me, a noodle? You're the noodle!" Giggled Estrella,
"Ah- sure." Rosamund smirked.
"Don't you gimme that!" Estrella waggled her pointer finger jokingly at Rosamund.
"You'll lose that finger if you're not careful!" She laughed,
"Oh yeah?" Estrella challenged, grinning all over herself.
"Yeah!" Rosamund smiled back.Meanwhile...
Everyone on the boy's bus was asleep. Everyone except Izzy. Slash had a bottom bunk, Axl had one of the king singles, Steven had a top bunk, and Duff lay where he normally fell asleep; with his head on the table and a bottle of alcohol near his outstretched hand. Izzy himself was on the opposite bottom bunk to Slash, and reclined casually in the bed, not being bothered to get up but unable to fall back to sleep. He allowed his mind to wander, and his favourite little fantasies began to play out in his head. He often thought about what it would be like to strip Annie down and screw her as hard as humanly possible. She had such a nice little body, and she was way too innocent. Izzy shuffled where he lay, his fresh hard on making him uncomfortable. Annie would look so good with her clothes off, creamy white skin beneath his fingertips as he pounded her. Izzy's hard shaft throbbed, anticipation building in his loins. His mind wandered and he caught himself thinking about Rosamund, and how she looked. How it had felt to plunge into her when they'd had sex. Izzy found himself wanting more. The pressure had built up, demanding release, so with a glance at the other guys, who were still asleep, Izzy reached beneath the covers and caressed himself gently. He wrapped his hand around it, then began to draw his fist up and down, stimulating himself, gaining speed. He tried to make the least noise possible as he closed his eyes and imagined screwing Rosamund doggy style. He held back a loud moan as he shot his load into his boxers. He would have to change them for a fresh pair, but it was all worth it. Just as he was about to go looking for some, the bus slowed and began to draw to a stop, veering to the right, to the side of the road. He heard Axl stir in one of the king singles in the adjoining compartment, and Slash drowsily asked if they had arrived from one of the other bunks.
Well fuck. How was he going to get them now?Meanwhile...
The bus came to a stop, and Estrella bounced up from where she had been sitting at the table, eating breakfast. The place they had stopped at was a tiny service station with packed dirt flooring outside, and peeling linoleum inside. The sun had broken half heartedly through the dark clouds above to illuminate the gloomy little spot far out on the highway. There was a dingy phonebooth beside the road with a cracked window. Estrella waited excitedly at the doors until the bus driver hit the button on the dash to open them for her. She had decided she should call home. Her brother and father would be at the boxing center, however, so she decided to call there instead of their house phone. She rushed out of the bus in her pajamas and flung open the door to the phonebooth. She grabbed hold of the phone, inserted a coin into the slot in the panel, and dialed the number. She had her fingers crossed that someone would be walking past the telephone in the hallway and could pick it up to give to one of her family members.
The phone rang; 'ring, ring'- 'ring, ring'- and again, 'ring, ring'. She was starting to think nobody was going to pick it up, and felt disappointment well up in her core as she'd just about given up.
'ring, ring'- 'ring'---
There was a click noise as the receiver was taken off the hook, and then a husky male voice said
"Hullo?". Estrella's heart stood still for a moment. Eddie. "Anybody there?" He sounded sort of confused, and Estrella let out a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding.
"Hey..." she replied, not wanting him to hang up, but unsure whether to talk to him, and if so, what about.
"Estrella?" He asked, and Estrella registered the shock and disbelief in his tones.
"Yeah, Eddie- it's me." She nearly whispered,
"Hey!" He sounded so happy. "Yo, Ryan, it's Estrella!" He shouted joyously at one of the other boxers.
"Aw cool man!" She vaguely heard another male voice a little farther off then Eddie's.
"How you doin'?" He was obviously speaking to her, and his tone was happy.
"I'm good- a little flustered." She said,
"Ah what? What for?" There was a hint of worry there now,
"Just didn't expect to talk to you, is all." She blurted, only then realising how rough that would have sounded; She was calling up, but didn't want to talk to him.
"Oh-- well I'm here now, anyway..." he did sound a little hurt, but he changed track back to his happier tones- even if it did sound forced. "S'pose you want your dad or Caleb then?" He added.
"Wait up, fighter!" She interrupted, and there was a 'hm?' from the other side of the phone. "It was good hearing you again." She told him,
"Eh- I liked it too, Est. Your dad and Caleb aren't the only ones missing you." He said. There was a little pause, then he suggested "I should go get them, just hold on a minute." He did sound brighter after she had told him she'd enjoyed their short lived talk. She did not have to wait long, and her father was on the other end.
"Hey, baby girl! How's the tour?" He picked up,
"Oh- busy to say the least, but good." She told him.
"I'm glad to hear it, honey. Not been getting into any trouble?" He asked.
"Not at all." She smiled,
"Now- it's busy here too; Rex needs cleaning up after the spar he was just in, so I'll talk to you later, but here's Caleb." He said,
"That's okay dad, love you." She replied. She understood. He was at work, after all.
"Love you too sweetie!"
The phoneline went silent for a moment, then Caleb's voice was on the other end.
"Hey there, little sister." She could hear his grin.
"Hey." She smiled gently,
"You've Eddie all tied up in knots, you know?" He said.
"Oh yeah?" She questioned,
"Yep. When he came off the phone to you just now, he had this big grin and a spring in his step- my god!" Caleb laughed. He was part taunting the other guy, part happy for him.
"Estrella!?" Duff was shouting from over by the buses,
"She's in the phone booth." She heard Vicki tell him. Duff began to stride towards her, and a small frown tugged at her lips.
"Who's that calling out?" Caleb sounded slightly confused,
"Just one of the guys." She said.
"What's he want?"
"Just wondering where I am, I think." She responded.
"Estrella?" Duff had reached the little booth, and opened the door.
"Yeah- what's up?" She replied,
"we're moving". Duff told her.
"Ah- okay- I gotta go, Caleb."
"That's okay. Love you." He said,
"Love you too!" She said back, then she clanged the phone back into the holder.
"Who was that?" Duff sounded wounded, almost.
"My brother, Caleb." She said, glancing up at his tall figure in the doorway. Duff's worried expression dissipated.
"How is he?"
"Seems fine. Dad's good, busy as always." She briefly listed off as Duff stepped aside and they walked towards the buses again. Estrella wasn't paying all that much attention as she strode alongside Duff, thinking about the phone call.
"Anything interesting happening over there?" Duff asked casually,
"Oh, just one of the fighters beat up. Pretty normal for a boxing center." She laughed light heartedly, "Eddie was happy to hear from me though, and of course so was Caleb and dad." She added,
"So you have two brothers- Caleb and Eddie?" Duff half- stated, half- questioned.
"Uhh no. Eddie is no relation." She shook her head,
"Um- right..." there was a pregnant silence."So what's Eddie to you, then?"
The question made her a little uncomfortable.
"What does that matter, Duff?" She replied defensively.
"No need to get cranky- just wanted to know if you're still single." He put his hands up either side of his head,
"I hope you're joking." She stated, flustered. She had stopped walking now, and so had Duff.
"What if I'm not?" He smirked.
"Well I'll- I'll..." she was even angrier now, and at a loss for words. Duff gently placed a hand beneath her chin, fingers just barely making contact with her skin.
"You're so cute when you're angry." He smiled charmingly, gazing piercingly into her eyes. It was as though his warm brown irises could see right through her. He seemed to know how she felt exactly, saw her every emotion play behind her eyes. Butterflies erupted in her belly, her heart was thumping hard in her chest, and her stomach did a somersault. Duff's fluffy blonde hair was swept up in the breeze gently as she stared up at him, only captivating her further.
Duff didn't say anything else, he just dropped his hand back to his side and walked casually back towards the boys' bus, leaving her standing, stunned, beside the vehicle.
