Suzanne's POV:
Finally time for school. An excuse to get away from my family.
The school day went by normally, I only got to see Emme in orchestra and gym, which was disappointing to say the least.
We had minimal eye contact when we looked at each other. She would look at me, I would catch her, she would look away.
Eventually the day came to a close, and I decided to go to the Gopher Den (a little area in our school where they sell candy and soda) and buy some Sour Watermelons.
On the way to the bus loop, I struggled to open the package, but to no avail.
I leaned against a building, closer to Emme than I usually would, wanting to talk to her. But she had her earbuds in, so I gave up.
Suddenly, a dude (whom I didn't know) came up to me.
"Excuse me, but are you two friends?" He asked, addressing Emme and I. I looked down at the package that was yet to be opened, then turned to the girl.
"If you open this, I'll be your best friend," I said, holding the package out to her. She took it and on the first try, opened it.
"Want one?" I asked when I took the package back. She nodded shyly, do I held the package out to her. She took one of the candies, giving me a nervous smile and popping it into her mouth.
A warm fuzzy feeling erupted in my stomach, making me smile.
