"That's exactly what he said?" I questioned.

"More or less." Feurige breathed.

He was in a worse mood now. Jumpy and snappy. I remember what visions I had from any magical behemoths. Which wasn't very much because I wasn't very important in the grand scheme of things. The camp was ahead of us, a growing dot just a little closer than the horizon.

"We can work on it Feurige, don't you worry." Ipa soothed.

We touched down right in front of the settlement. I padded along the grass before being tackled by a stuffy blue-furred maniac.

"You're bock!" Jay crowned from on top of me.

"Yep." I gasped, pushing hm off.

"So dud you find Zawa?"

I laughed. "You sound funny!"

His ears flew back. "It dis cussed cold, it messin ub my vocals!"

I laughed harder, rolling on the ground howling.

"Haw haw, dud you fin Zawa or nut?"

"No, and none of the packs agreed to our treaty. Feurige recieved a vision telling him what to do, but we're at a bit of a sticky point." I explained.

He sighed. At that moment, the ground seemed to tremor slightly. I stiffened, swiveling my ears forward. Jay was tense, for a second, none of us said a word.

"Was that an earthquake?" I questioned, the fur along my spine sticking up threateningly.

Most of the wolves milling around had stopped to wonder what had just happened. But none seemed to worried and kept along with their business.

"Is prubly nuffin." Jay sneezed.

"You never know." I said warily.

The layout on the Ignis pack was a broad circle of wild and thorny fox ferns on the outside, then dense and cluttered ivy. The trees made way for a small clearing where the wolves slept and ate. The other times they were out hunting and barely came back for days. Older wolves stayed with the young pups when the adults were gone. There was a small tunnel dug into the side on a hill at which the came crested. The is where the alpha, Gregory slept, or was supposed to but he said he always preferred sleeping under the stars. He was a large cream colored wolf that had dyed parking on his fur with blackberry juice. He was now making and appearance, walking out from the confines of the underground and stepping lightly across the clearing. He seemed intent on talking to us, or rather-

"Hey guys?" Feurige asked from behind us suddenly. "Have you seen Madrona?"

Jay opened his mouth to give a sarcastic answer when Gregory's deep, commanding voice interrupted him.

"I need to talk to you alone Feurige."

He tilted his head. "Okay, whatever you say sir."

He padded off, casting confused looks back at the two of us.

I followed the figure of Gregory back into his den. Which was where he came to think about important decisions. There was a map of Eastern Coniurantum  clawed into the sides of the cylindrical wall. Gregory gazed at it, looking upset.

"I had a very disturbing dream last night before you returned."

I perked my ears, but I was no dream interpreter.

"At first I thought nothing of it, dreams come and go like dreams do. Often they are meaningless, but this one was rather frightening.

"I was standing in a large meadow. A large expanse of golden grass. It was beautiful, but something felt wrong. Like I should be somewhere else, in some other time. Before my feet the ground shook and blistered open several large cracks in the ground.

"And peering from the darkness below were two large glowing red eyes. I felt fear like nothing before, then I was  swallowed up by the darkness."

He looked to me. "I'm afraid it will come true if I don't do something. Normally I wouldn't burden someone so young. But after you talked to me about Tenebris, you might be the only wolf here with the knowledge I need."

"So does that mean you believe me?" I asked.

He shut his eyes. "Yes, to an extent. I believe there is a rising threat to my pack, and I need to protect them."

"I have powers sir, powers that yes, need a bit of practice, but I was chosen to fight Tenebris. But I can't do it alone."

"What do you mean?" He questioned.

"Tenebris has the Anguis pack under his control, that's a lot of wolves, we need the help of your fighters." I suggested.

"Give me some time to think about your offer, but if you're right, then it may be necessary." He confirmed.

The ground shook again. I had felt it earlier but dismissed it as nothing. This time it was more forceful than before.

"You brought the marked one into my pack Feurige. If he's the one who brings this terrible darkness, than the consequence will be your fault." Gregory warned.

"You don't honestly believe in that prophecy do you?" I gaped.

He raised his head sternly. "I know to trust my elders and learn from their mistakes."

I sighed and stalked down the tunnel and out into the open air. Ipa was standing a ways off, her head tilted in concentration.

"Something is going on with the ground." She observed. "It's not acting the way it usually does."

I quirked at her. "How does it usually act?"

"Calm, wise. But now it's upset, and..." She trailed off.

"What?"

"It's not responding to me, at all." Ipa leaned her head down and studied a pebble closely.

I waited for it to move, twitch, fly into the air and smack someone in the face. But nothing happened.

"The ground usually speaks to me Feurige, but now, for once, it is silent."

"Is that a good thing?" I questioned.

"No, it's very bad. Tenebris has something to do with this." She replied sternly.

"Do you think it's another attack?"

"Maybe, we should stay on our hooves."

"And paws."

"Right."
