Josh's POV: After the kiss, things were WAY MORE comfortable between the two of us! We both felt that we could talk to one another without the other making fun of us. It was a nice feeling! A... Human feeling. It was a good one!
The ideas that we had to stop the night terrors were like how many family members we had here with us! Non-existent! So we just decided to wait things out for now and see if we could record a pattern in the night terrors. It wasn't much but it was the best that we could come up with at this point!
"But wait... How did you calm me down yesterday?" (Y/N) asked finally.
"Well..." I was hesitant. "When you attacked me, I grabbed your katana and put it out of your reach. Then, I made sure to keep you safe by holding you down in a blanket." I finished awkwardly. She smiled slowly.
"Awww. That's sweet! Thanks for keeping me safe." She blushed a brilliant red again. Just great, now I feel like I'm responsible for her! There's no way that I could keep her safe as a Wendigo, I'd loose my sanity way before then. But, then again, I really DON'T feel like I'm changing. But we know what happened last time.
"Yeah well." I said shyly. "It's no problem. I just hated to see you in so much pain." But of course, she knew I was keeping some of the details from her.
"That is very sweet of you Joshua, but I feel like you're keeping a detail from me. If we want to stop the terrors, I need to know all of the details. Please Josh!" She looked at me with her big brown eyes. I couldn't keep it from her, no matter how embarrassing it might've been.
"When I was holding you tightly, you kept crying and telling me to not kill you or hurt you. I kept whispering in your ear that I would never hurt you on purpose. You seemed to like it, stopped thrashing, and fell asleep in my arms." I finished, not looking at her. When I did, a single tear fell down her face.
"(Y/N)?" I asked, alarmed. "What's the matter?" I needed to know.
"I used to get those night terrors when my parents were alive. My mother always did what you just described. But after they died, I couldn't stop the terrors. And then you just came along and did what my mother did not knowing it... I miss my family!" She sobbed. There it was again, I couldn't stand to see her the way she was now. So I grabbed her into another tight hug.
"I'm sorry." I told her sadly. She just nodded and kept crying into my torn overalls. I felt the tears soak through onto my skin. She just kept crying.
(Y/N) POV: "I'm sorry Josh. I'm a mess!" I cried.
"Don't apologize for being sad! It's ok I promise!" He whispered. I began to fall asleep again!
"I'm sorry." I said again. "I haven't slept well in weeks!" I told him.
"It's ok. I don't care if you fall asleep." He whispered again, this time, right in my ear. I knew that we had probably just found the way to keep away the night terrors.
I conked out a few minutes later, tears staining my cheeks. I didn't have the terrors and it felt good.
Josh's POV: I heard (Y/N)fall asleep on me as her raspy, teary breaths became steady long ones. She was one tired girl!
I layed her down in my lap and watched her breathe ever so slowly. I smiled unconsciously. I just wanted to keep her safe! No matter what it took! She was all I had here and I was all she had! I wanted to make sure that I was there when she needed it the most!
(Y/N) slept through most of the morning but I enjoyed keeping her on me while it lasted. I talked with her while she was asleep, played with her hair, and just smiled at her from time to time.
After an hour or so of that, I put (Y/N) down in the blanket and made some deer meat breakfast. I couldn't help but talk to myself while I did.
"Come on Josh! Make her something special and yummy for when she wakes up! She's so special and all you have left. Don't let the hallucinations take over this time." Of course, as I said the last part, (Y/N) woke up.
"Josh? Are you ok? What hallucinations? Is there any way I can help?" As she said that, I passed out and started having my hallucinations of my sisters! Why do I have to be this way?
