New York Surprises (Tayvin - AU)

Part 13

TAYLOR POV

I opened the door and immediately smiled when I saw Adam, he still had that effect on me.

"Hi! Come on in!" I said, moving back slightly to let him in.

He leaned over slightly and gave me a quick side hug, blocked slightly by the pizzas in my arms.

"Hi Tay! Where should I put the pizzas?" He asked.

"Right this way....um.... ignore any mess around please, I didn't have time to tidy up yet this week." I apologised as we walked through to the kitchen, "Oven is over there, pretty self-explanatory I guess."

Adam smiled and got to work putting the pizzas in the oven while I just watched, leaning againt the counter. When he had the pizzas in the oven he stood up and turned to me.

"Do you want a drink or anything?" I asked him.

"No, I'm OK thanks." He replied.

I could tell he was nervous about what was coming next.

"Okay then... I'll just go get the kids form their room." I said, squeezing his arm gently as I walked by, "Breathe Adam!" I said, making both of us laugh a little, breaking the tense atmosphere in the kitchen.

I walked down he small corridor and pushed oven their door slightly. I found them sitting and playing My Little Pony Lego, where they built houses for the ponies out of Lego and then made up stories or something. They never seemed to speak when they were playing, but somehow knew what each other was thinking...it was freaky.

"Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, do you want to come say hi to my friend Adam?" I asked them, making them look up at me and get to their feet.

They both walked over to me and took my hands, apparently suddenly nervous.

When we go to the kitchen Adam was looking at the wall of photos I had, and had his back to us. I cleared my throat and he turned around.

"Um, Adam, this is James or Jay.... And this is Eliana or Lia.... Kids this is my friend Adam from when I was younger." I did the introductions and then watched them all to see what would happen.

Adam bent down so he was kneeling on one knee and held his hand out, first to Lia and then to Jay, shaking their hands. They both giggled at this.

"Why don't we go sit down in the living room and you guys can tell Adam what you've been up to at school?" I suggested.

The kids rushed into the living room, obviously both wanting to get their favourite seats, which were different so it wasn't like there was any competition. Adam started following them but I grabbed his hand and held him back. He turned to me slightly.

"Just relax.... And smile! It'll be fine." I told him, watching as he let out a deep breathe and chuckled slightly.

"Who would have thought two kids could make me so nervous!" He replied shakily, trying his best to smile.

I acted on impulse and did the only thing I could think of: wrapped both my arms around his chest and hugged him. His arms wrapped around my body and I could feel him relaxing.

"Better?" I asked, getting a sile in response as I moved away from him.

"Much... let's go!" He replied, holding out his hand to let me go first.

LIA POV

"Jay.... I think mommy likes Mr Adam...." I told Jay as we stood in the doorway of the living room looking back at the kitchen to see what was taking them so long. They were hugging and mommy looked like her eyes were closed.
