My first day back after missing some days from school and I was jumped by Tyler and the girls. Of course they had wondered why I was gone so I made the excuse of me catching a cold. I couldn't possibly tell them the real reason. They would probably think I was insane if they heard what I had been up to. I highly doubt any of it would make any sense to them. They probably would have thought it was one of my crazy dreams.

When the bell rang for lunch I took my time in making my way to the cafeteria just to meet up with Tyler, Emmy, and Bree. As soon as I made it to the table, I rested my head on the table.

"Jay you okay?" I lifted my head off of the lunch table to see a concerned look on Bree's face; Tyler and Emmy oblivious wanting to what was going on.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired is all," I gave a small smile as she nodded and went back to her drawing. I rested my head back on the table and sighed in frustration. I had to lie about leaving my car at Smiley's and why I returned after being gone for so long to everyone. I knew that soon enough all of the lying was going to come back and bite me in the ass. But I was going to go with the flow until it happened. There wasn't really anything I could say. If I opened my mouth, and people would get hurt.

As the day kept getting longer, my lies kept piling up more and more. I was just about ready to lay in a deep pit. Between feeling bad about lying to almost everyone and the racking pain in my head, my day wasn't going all too well.

But then a magical event occurred during my last class. Mr. Wells was in the middle of a lecture about how argumentative papers were one of the most important things we'd learn in life when there was knock on the door. The class grew silent as Mr. Wells proceeded to open the door.

Like it was a gift from a god, a gorgeous boy walked in. His strawberry blonde hair was a mess yet it worked for him and his eyes were the bluest eyes I'd even seen. I guess I had been staring long because his attention shifted from Mr. Wells to me. He gave me a small smirk and I felt my heart skip a beat.

Mr. Wells told him to find an empty seat and there had happen to be one directly diagonally from me. His gaze was on the floor as he got to the desk and sat down quietly.

With interruptions out of the way, the teacher went on with his lecture. I could feel my heart beating a hundred miles a minute. He took my breath away. I couldn't keep my eyes off him. And he seemed to notice that. He peeked out of the corner of his eye and I saw his mouth form another small smirk. It was taken away from my sight when Mr. Wells called on me to repeat what he had said which I failed miserably at doing.

When the final bell for the day rang, I ran out to meet my friends in front of the school. While I waited, I pulled out my phone to pass the time.

"Hey you super sure you're okay?" I looked up from my phone to see Emmy giving me a questioning look.

"Oh, hey, I'm good."

"Good. We're going out tonight and there is no way you can get out of it." I shook my head and let out a small laugh.

"Who's going?"

"The usual group." I nodded my head and went back to my phone. The last few minutes ticked by and the rest of the gang showed up. We all discussed when and where we were meeting up. When Bree's ride showed up everyone else said their goodbyes and parted ways.

I knew I couldn't get a ride so I let out a quiet sigh and began my journey home on foot. I had only gotten a few feet away from the campus when a car horn frightened me. I let out a girlish shriek which I automatically regretted. I was about to cuss at whoever it was until the window rolled down and Smiley's face came to view.

"I can never catch a break can I?" I grumbled to myself. And then I noticed who's car he was driving. "What the he'll are you doing with my car you jackass?"

"Driving it of course. What else would I do with it?" I felt myself growing more irritated by the second.

"Get out."

"Just get in the car Jay." I had to think. If I didn't take the opportunity now, I wouldn't get my car back. And if I did, I'd get my car back but with a small possibility of something bad happening. I didn't have much of a choice. So I threw my bag into the back seat then sat down in the passenger side. I gave him a small glare as I sat down. Neither of us wanted to say anything. I mean, what really could be said? But all the silence wasn't settling right with me.

I guess he sensed the tension too because he finally spoke and said, "I hope you know I can't let you say anything."

Of course I knew this. It would be idiotic to open my mouth, but this couldn't keep up for forever. I just nodded my head. He seemed pleased with my answer and continued to kept quiet until we pulled up to his small death clinic. Without warning he killed the engine and threw the keys at me.

"Thanks for the ride kiddo," he commented as he left me in the car. I quickly got into the driver side and started the engine back to life. But it didn't seem right to just leave. I had so many questions. I shook the thought of asking him and sped down the street without looking back at the small, shabby building.

I didn't understand this guy at all. I needed clarification but I was afraid of what he'd do if I questioned him even just a little. Then I thought where else to find all the information you want to know then on the internet. He had to be on there somewhere.

As soon as I got home, I ran up to my room without greeting my parents and turned on my laptop. After it slowly woke up I began my search for any information on Smiley. Nothing seemed to pop up with anything about him. No business, no articles about him, nothing. I was starting to feel like the whole this was useless, that there was no way I'd find anything about him. So I tried one last time.

Dr. Smiley's real name.

Only one link came up as a match. Seeing as my only lead on him I clicked on it. Sure enough there was an article with his picture. Under the picture was a small caption that read, "Devin Lee Smiley". He was a renounced surgeon that suddenly disappeared almost three years ago. Apparently he had shown signs of insanity and was then sent to a mental hospital. From there, he escaped and was never seen again. Most believe he had died while others thought he was still out reeking havoc.

The sound of my phone going off scared me half to death. Then I realized it was just a text from Emmy.

[Emmy: Don't forget about tonight! 9:00 at Sam's. See you then! Love you]

I gave a small sigh. I had totally forgotten about it. The only thing on my mind was finding more out about Mr. Devin Lee Smiley.

a/n: Finally another update. As a disclaimer Dr. Smiley's real name has never been revealed but I found a story that gave a possible name of his. Thanks for reading.
