"Emmy, who are we waiting on? Everyone is here." Emmy turned on her heels to face me and shushed me.

"I didn't tell you but I brought an extra person." With that she gave me a little wink. I only gave her a puzzled look as to what she meant. We had been standing in front of Sam's house for quite some time. Sam was one of Tyler's friend that invited Tyler. Tyler being the kind of guy he was, asked us to come along. As per usual, we all agreed to go. We sat on the front steps of the house for another five minutes or so in silence until a black Chevy pickup truck appeared.

The sight of the truck caused Emmy to jump up from her spot and run to it. A tall figure stepped out of it but I couldn't see what they looked like due to it being dark out. All I knew was that it was a male figure. Most likely to be Emmy's boyfriend of the week. It wasn't till the mysterious person's face was illuminated by the porch light that I realized who it was.

"Jason, I'm sure you're familiar with Alec." Emmy wore a devilish smirk. My heart dropped in my chest and I couldn't seem to form any words. It was Mister New Guy.

"Yeah," was the only response I could give as I was starstruck but him. The most attractive chuckle came from Alec.

"It's nice to properly meet you, Jason." He gave me his killer smile and I again was lost for words. Emmy snickered and then led us inside to where the party was.

The house was filled with teenagers dancing, drinking, and smoking here and there. There was also the occasional ones making out in the corner of the room or right in front of everyone. With the music pounding loud and everyone almost shouting, it was hard to hear much of what anyone was saying. As I had thought, a lot of people were crowed in such a small house. It was almost hard to breath. I knew there was a reason I wasn't fond of parties. I began to look around for familiar face but couldn't seem to. I must've lost everyone while looking around.

I could feel myself starting to freak out. My heart stared to pound faster and faster. I needed to get out and quickly. Glancing around the house, I couldn't find any exit. People were bumping into each other and spilling beer everywhere. Some girl was laughing and fell, causing her to spill her drink. All over me to be exact. She slurred out "I'm sorry" a few times but I dismissed them and paid no mind to her. Out of nowhere I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Jason, let's go out back," Alec said. I gave a slight nod to him and followed as we found the backyard. As soon as I got outside, I was hit with fresh air, and a little hint of beer to add in. Alec gave me a concerned look.

"Some drunk girl spilled it on me." He chuckled but nodded in an understanding way. He looked away from me and up at the dark, night sky. Stars of all sizes littered the sky.

"Beautiful isn't it?" His voice breaking the silence startled me a little.

"Oh, yeah. Definitely."

"You didn't have to agree with me, ya know?"

"Oh! No, I didn't mean it like it's totally not beautiful. I mean the sky always is at night. Kinda like you. But not in a girl way or anything. I mean that would be silly! And, and-" A sudden burst of laughter erupted from Alec as my rambling became almost irrelevant to the topic.

"I was just messing with you. Chill. And thank you for the compliment?" I gave a nod and he began to laugh once more. "I like you already."

My heart immediately stopped. My mind was running a hundred miles a minute.

Just as a friend. Just as a friend. He's totally straight.

"I like you too. But just as a friend! No homo."
