I remember when I was just starting to Love Queen. I was always scared someone would mention/ play a Queen song I haven't heard yet, and I would have no clue it's Queen! I don't know, I get nervous about that stuff. I'm still kinda nervous about it now, and there's only four albums I haven't heard. What helped, was that after a while I noticed most people don't even like Queen enough to listen to more than Greatest Hits and A Night at the Opera. Well, I don't know how it is for you, but over here most people really don't care, and only know the songs everyone knows. In case you don't know which songs I'm talking about, which you probably do, here they are:
We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Somebody to Love, Another one Bites the Dust, Under Pressure.
There, those songs. Normally Bohemian Rhapsody isn't one of those songs, or if it is then they don't identify it as Bohemian Rhapsody but instead as Mama, Just Killed a Man or something of that Jazz. I actually found it kinda funny when I met someone whom apparently hadn't heard the list of songs above, but, had heard Flick of the Wrist!
Anyways, this has a point...somewhat. Which is why I notice it's incredibly useful to start off with Greatest hits. Yeah yeah, you probably already know this stuff. Not only is it a good place to start because it supposedly has all the artists "best" songs, but that's what most people have heard or remember.
Some/most adults I've talked to wouldn't have a clue what I'm talking about if I mention My Fairy King. Obviously that's excluding on of my mum's friends. Honestly he loves that music, duh it's from his generation, and has listened to all the Queen albums at least once. Anyways, that was totally okay with me when I was just starting to discover this wonderful band. If that's not enough proof, I'll tell you about Bowie. I'm only beginning to discover his music and I have two albums, there's about 23 more albums to get!!!! Well I'll soon have three...when his new album comes out... I'm getting off track aren't I?
Anyways, I have one of his "greatest hits" (the one that's mentioned in That's Okay) and two of his most popular albums The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and Hunky Dory. That's perfectly okay to talk to people about David or reference him.
Oh this Brings in another point, after getting greatest hits, GET THE MOST POPULAR ALBUMS FIRST. Yup, that's it. Well, if you can't buy the albums because of any inconveniences where you live, then listen first to greatest hits, then whatever their best album is, like A Night at the Opera. Yup that's all.
I realize this is probably useless, since most, if not all, of you that read this are well out of the "beginners phase". Oh well 😅

Okay, that was a long chapter! 507 words (not including the author's note) congrats to anyone whom read it all...and is now reading this. The picture is my first Queen picture EVER, the video is Absolute Beginners. I like that song, so yeah.
Thanks
