This happens with all fandoms. Normally when others either, aren't in the same fandom, or aren't as big fans as you. My mum, only knew of Freddie. until I told her about the others that is.
Some times you might make a cool reference to something, and nobody will understand. for example, once my mother asked me to wake up my sister. I went on YouTube and looked up a Roger Taylor song. Then I looked at my mom and said "I would wake her up
But I've got No violins" they thought I actually wanted an actual violin!
Other times, when someone mentions Queen (usually the bed size) I tend to pay attention. Then I realise they're not talking about the band. Happened just yesterday actually.
