First Love
Chapter eighteen
New York City Trip (Day six)
Leia's POV:
As it was the last full day in New York (we were leaving at night, after dinner the next day), one of the class' smooth-talkers managed to convince Mrs Simmons and Ms O'Donnell to let us go out and stay late to celebrate our freedom. Well, provided that we stayed in a group and didn't go to clubs and stuff like that.
Little did they know that one of us had a cousin that lived in NYC and was throwing a party which we were all invited to.
So obviously we were all going.
<Party, that night>
It was a typical high school party. A keg in the corner, couples making out against every wall, gyrating bodies and guys hitting on every girl in sight.
Not really my scene. My kind of scene was like... Balls. As in gowns and tuxes, ballroom dancing black tie balls that my parents throw oh so often. Planning them was practically my mom's hobby.
But I tried to have as much fun as possible. Haydn was really into it. I guessed as a big-time badass player, Haydn probably hosted loads of parties as these.
"You want a beer?" Haydn shouted to me over the loud music.
"Coke. I'll take a coca cola," I faked a smile to him. I felt really uncomfortable, but for his sake, I'd put up with anything. He was worth anything.
"Sure thing. Be back in a sec," he gave me a kiss on the cheek before heading into the sea of people.
Haydn took awhile, so I decided to look around for him. I noticed a couple making out passionately.
Then, I realised that the girl was Ciara. As in Ciara Gold, Michael's girlfriend.
Yeah. My brother's best friend's girlfriend, and sort of close friend of mine's girlfriend.
So, of course, I had to play the smarty pants and be all smug with Ciara and finally kick her out of our little group.
I wish I hadn't.
I tapped on Ciara's shoulder.
"Hey. Who's the friend? We haven't been introduced," I smirked.
"Actually, I believe you have," she smirked more than me, "Leia." She pointed to the guy. I turned to face him.
"Hay- Haydn?" my voice quavered. "You jerk."
Then I did what any other girl in my position would. I ran.
Haydn seemed to get to his senses and began chasing after me.
"Leia!"
I finally stopped a few blocks away when I ran out of breath.
"What was that about, Haydn?" I was still in tears.
"I... don't know," he sighed. "She kissed me."
"But you were making out with her!" I cried out.
Haydn was speechless.
"Tell me you don't like Ciara and weren't making out with her," I said.
"I don't like Ciara. I'm in love with you, Leia," he told me.
"Well that's your misfortune," I quoted Rhett Butler from Gone With The Wind.
"Don't do this to me. We're perfect for each other, remember?"
