Chapter 2. Welcome Back Parties & Akward Convos

"I mean it's like he is now all dark and myserteous" Kayla says flicking through a magazine while lying on my bed

Cailin lays on her back on the floor looking at the roof, while I sit next to the window eating some peanut M&Ms (my fav)

"I know I know, but why is he back?" I moan, while my mouth drools before I even put the peanut M&Ms in my mouth

"Maybe you should ask him?" Cailin suggests and I shake my head

"I don't know... He's kind of scary now" I says shyly while the girls laugh

"Yea he is I was checking him out and he saw, I totally like shit my pants" Kayla laughs and Cailin nods her head laughing

"I was with Sam and I bumped into him, he didn't even say anything he just gave me a look then walked off" Cailin says, Sam is her boyfriend if you where wondering

"That's so weird" I say and they nod

"I just think it's weird that he would come back.. Now, I mean why this year why not next year" Cailin says shrugging in confusion, Kayla nods then flips a page, I huff

"Guys... Let's just stop taking about him" I sigh and walk over to the girls, they look at each other and nod

"You use to like him, right?" Kayla says

"Use to" I sigh, mom comes up stairs and comes into our room

"Girls, I just wanted to let you know the Smiths are coming over for a welcome back for Jayden" mom says smiling and looks over to me then the girls and then mom walks away

"Well that's my queue  to leave, good luck" Cailin says jumping off the ground and grabbing her pink backpack, Kayla nods and closes the magazine

"Fill us on what happens after" Kayla says giving me a hug then walks out with Cailin

"Great just great" I sigh and jump on my bed.

"Caroline what are you doing!?! They'll be here any minute and your laying on the bed doing nothing, go get changed.. Good grief " mom yells at me, I moan and then eventually get up

"I don't even want to have dinner with them" I confess

"Don't say that he's your best friend" she says shaking her head and gasping at my words

"he was until he left me" I say with tears threatening to spill, I jump off the bed and walking to my chest of draws, she sighs

"Please Caroline, just get changed and be ready before they come" she sighs and walks out, I swallow the lump in my throat and wipe my eyes

I decide on white ripped jeans and a black lace singlet, then I put my hair into a messy bun, to finish up I curl my eyelashes and add mascara and lipgloss

I hear a knock downstairs, my mum smiles and greets everyone telling them I'd be down soon, I sigh and open my door

It was gonna be weird now, Jayden's parents always came to our house or we went to there's and I was completely fine with it, but now Jayden is gonna be there, everything is gonna be different now

I sigh again and make my way downstairs, there I see everyone seated down, Jayden is seating where he always used to sit when he came over, I felt like crying on the spot, he still remembered where we used to sit, or it was just a coincidence

I notice the only seat left is next to Jayden, that's the seat where I always sit

I make my way over to the table sitting down next to Jayden and shuffling away, his parents greet me and I greet them back, my dad then decides to start eating

"You have changed a lot" I hear Jayden finally say something, he hadn't even said any words to me nor look at me, our parents where in a deep conversation so of course they would notice us

I look over at him, he looks me up and down and smirks, I smile back but ignore him then continue eating my food

"Why are you ignoring me, Car?" He asks, this makes me want to break down and cry

He was the only one who called me 'Car' it was like the Carebears, that's what he used to tell me, but when he got older he just told me it was a nickname to shorten my name

"Hhm I wonder why, I mean you did leave me, aka your best friend, which is me if you don't remember, you left me and didn't leave any note, you gave me no goodbye, you didn't text or call, you didn't even answer my texts or calls, I left you a million messages and you chose to ignore them, you didn't even bother to tell me where you were going and then you just show up out off know where and ask.. 'Why are you ignoring me' well there you go Jayden that's why I'm ignoring you." I snap, he looks at me and clenches his jaw tight while his biceps flex, then he looks away,

Pathetic

I stand up making the chair screech and the table bounce, everyone looks at me except for Jayden who is still looking away mad as hell

"Excuse me" I say quietly, I look down at Jayden, the parents then look at Jayden before walking out

I grab my jumper and open the door, I walk out shutting the door and out to my car

I couldn't believe how much of jerk he was.

"Why are you ignoring me, Car?"

I just wanted to shout and scream, he had no right to call me that... Ever

I dial in Cailins number, as I remember Kayla was out with a guy tonight so there was no reason to call her

"Hey Cailin, can I come over please?" I sniffle, I hear the other line shuffle before she answers

"Yea of course, fill me in what happend" Cailin answers, I nod and smile

I loved my best friends.
