Guess who's back? I know I've been gone a long time and I'm sorry for that. But here's a Destiel AU from tumblr to make up for it. Forgive me? I hope so. Hope you enjoy! Loves. -M

They're going to wait until after graduation to make their relationship known. They want to be together forever and are hoping to avoid all those worried parent talks about how high school couples never make it in the long haul. Dean knows in his gut that Cas is his one and only. His best friend. His soul mate.

For now, they keep it all a secret. Hand holding only under the desks. Maintaining a foot or so distance between them at all times - at least, until the doors are closed. Then it's a trade-off who will tackle who first. Kisses are always given equally though.

So it's a little shocking when, come February 14th, Dean goes down to the kitchen for breakfast and his mom asks him, "What did you get Castiel this year?"

Dean pointedly doesn't reach into his pocket where he stores a chain bracelet he hand-linked all by himself. The heart and bee pendants that dangle from one link, he bought at the store, but he doesn't think Cas will mind.

"It's just Valentine's Day," Dean says with a shrug.

"That's what I mean." She starts to smile. "That portrait you drew of him last year was so sweet."

Dean pales. "You knew about that?"

She laughs. "Sweetheart. You worked on it everywhere. Everyone knows about that."

"I was just drawing him..." Dean says with two or three more shrugs. "It's no big deal."

"Did he like it?"

Cas's smile that day could have lit the room. "Yeah." Dean shakes his head. "I mean - it's not like -"

"Don't lie to your mother, Dean."

So his mom knows. Has apparently known for a while. It's not a big deal, really. It's not like his dad...

Dean leaves his house to find his dad leaning against the side of the car. When Dean approached, his dad coughs into his hand and says, "Well, I guess you and Cas will be going out tonight."

Dean closes his eyes. He can't imagine much more embarrassing things than this.

But then his dad pats him on the shoulder and says, "If you need condoms -"

"Oh my God, Dad," Dean says and runs around to the driver's side.

"It's important to be safe!" his dad calls after him.

The purr of the Impala drowns him out until Dean can speed away.

Sam sends Dean a text as he's driving but Dean doesn't read it until he pulls into the parking lot at school.

Everyone knows about you and Cas. It's not a big deal. Stop freaking out.

Dean finds Cas bent into his locker going through his books.

"So apparently my parents know about us. Sam, too."

Cas's laugh echoes. "My dad found out last year when I went to get that portrait framed."

"Wait. Your dad knows, too?"

Cas stands straight and looks at Dean, blue eyes shining with light and love, like they always do when Dean's around. "Everyone knows."

Dean can't help the laugh that bubbles in his own throat. "If everyone knows, why the hell are we trying so hard to keep us a secret?"

"I thought that's what you wanted," Cas says.

So Dean takes a step closer, leans in, and kisses him, right there in front of all their high school.

No one claps or cheers or jeers or says anything at all. Like this is a perfectly normal, everyday occurrence.

And maybe it should have been, all this time. At least it can be now.

"I love you," Dean says.

"I love you, too." Cas grabs him by the shirt and brings him in for another.

They're late to homeroom. The teacher only rolls her eyes.
