He and Reyna had an on/off relationship. It wasn't them, it was Eros. He was trying to get Nick to date Piper, since she was single. And the fact that Nick had a crush on another daughter of Aphrodite, Erda.
But in the end they lived together, making New Rome better and more beautiful.
