Alright, here's the next sort of 'chapter' :P hope you guys enjoy it, and please comment or critic my story, feedback always helps :D Oh and this part is dedicated to Caymontheawsome because he's the only one who's commented so far XD Thanks Cameron :)
I almost threw up at the repulsive stench wafting from the McDonalds door, but kept it in so I wouldn’t blow chunks over my group of friends. I don’t think they’d be appreciative of me spewing half-digested Cheerios over them.
We were walking along the road leading away from the McDonalds, but the fumes were still clogging the air around us. I could taste the sour greasy scent in the back of my mouth, and the fact that Carson was actually eating the shit was only making it worse.
I walked directly behind him, scowling at his dirty blonde head as he chewed meat made in a lab. His head swayed back and forth, seeming to enjoy the artificial food as he swallowed noisy and scrunched up the empty wrapper. I was glad that I was behind him, so I wouldn’t have to watch him smack his lips as he sighed, “God, I love fast food!”
I felt my scowl etch itself deeper into my face, and I struggled to not snort or purposefully gag at his comment. Nel seemed to catch my facial expression, however, and announced toCarsonpointedly, “Yeah, but I think you’re going to make Cassan puke on you.”
Carsonwhipped his head around, staring at my scowling face with his wide brown eyes. He caught the familiar glare in my eyes, and I knew by the glimmer in his that our age-old argument was about to start up again.
He turned around fully, so he was walking backwards, and commented lightly, “I still don’t get how your taste buds work, Cas. Every teenager in the world likes McDonalds except for you.”
I wrinkled my nose at his reeking breath, replying back as usual, “Not everyone enjoys that amount of grease and fat in their food. And I bet the teens in third world countries don’t enjoy McDonalds, because there are none.”
Carson’s light brown eyes sparked at the challenge of a good argument, but I could already feel my face empty of emotion from my drain in energy. I wasn’t really up for screaming at each other about why I didn’t like fast food, and I knew that our constant battle annoyed the others too.
As predicted, Nel flipped around to view our defensive faces with a pissed off expression on her normally joking face. Her smoky dark skin contrasted with her olive green eyes, narrowed in anger at Carson and me. her white teeth flashed like lightning, as she opened her mouth to growl at us, “You two better shut up about McDonalds; no one gives a shit about your eating habits other than you two.” Her short dark curls bounced as she swung her head back forward, content with the verbal lashing she’d dolled out.
Carson and I stared at each other intensely for another moment, before letting loose the torrent of laughter that had built up inside both of us the second Nel had turned around. We never really were serious with each other during our arguments, but it somehow seemed comical when the others got pissed off enough to actually snap at us. Of course, we did the same thing to them when they were annoying, but they’d just laugh at us then too.
This was the typical behaviour of most teens in my small town, and we were pretty much used to it by now.
I forgot about the nauseous smell of the McDonalds as I snorted with laughter, but I stopped abruptly at the sight we passed. Against the hard brick wall of the building next to McDonalds, leaned the two figures I was used to seeing in that area. Clad in threadbare jackets and pants littered with rips and holes, two men with bearded faces and dirty skin sat in their usual positions. Both had their legs crossed and their arms hanging limply in their laps, heads bowed to the rushing world before them. The closest one to me was about ten years younger than the other, with mud-brown hair and weary eyes the colour of coffee dregs.
