Catching Carter

Part 4

Mason was beyond angry with himself and the person who took Carter.

Mason was sitting outside on the porch as the police investigated her room and the house for any leads on who took her. He watched as they went in and out until one walked over to him and asked Mason to follow him.

"Now young man who are you?" the officer asked.

"Mason Carter Night" Mason stated with a frown etched on his face.

"That's pretty strange that your middle name is Carter." The officer said.

"Yeah well that's what I was born with" Mason stated.

"Well on with that how do you know Carter?"

"I go to school with her"

"So your one of her friends?"

"No but I wish I was."

"Well what brought you over to her home?"

"She wasn't at school today so I went to my sister in law's house."

"And your sister in law is..."

"Lisa Night. Carter's god mother" Mason stated.

"Well can you tell me what happened after you went to Mrs. Night's home?"

"Well I told her I was concerned about Carter."

"Why were you Concerned?"

"Well she never missed a day of school since she started high school."

"And you know this how?"

"Im in every class with her. She's the only person I care about at school other than my one friend Bret Conner"

"Okay well what happened after you talked with Mrs. Night?"

"Well she tried calling Carter but she didn't answer. Then Lisa called Carter's parents and they had asked Lisa to go and check on her. Lisa brought me along with her to Carters home."

"Have you ever been to Carters house before?"

"No Carter and I never really spoke. I would watch her at school but that was just because I was fascinated in her. Once she left school I wouldn't follow. That would be creepy on both our parts"

"So you have a crush on Carter?" The Officer asked with a smirk.

"What? No. I dont know what your talking about. I dont crush okay." Mason stated as his cheeks slowly turnd red.

"Sure kid sure. Now what happened once you got to her house?"

"Well nobody answered the door and the door was unlocked so Lisa said to check upstairs whlie she looked around downstairs. As I was walking up the stairs I heard shattering and rushed to the room Lisa told me was Carter's. I tried to open the door but it was locked. I heard Carter scream help and tried to bust the door down. When i finally got in no one was there and I dident see anyone outside. I saw the writting and told Lisa to call 911." Mason finished with a sigh. He couldnt help but think that maybe if he would have just gotten in there sooner he would have been able to save her.

While Mason was talking to the Officer Carter was being tossed around in the back of a truck. Unconssious of course with her feet and hands bounded together.

The man who had token her was in a hurry to get her to his home. To hide her away with the others.

He was also dieing to punish her for screaming for help earlier. He furious with her as they were almost caught because of her stupid ass.

When Carter finaly woke she was being tied to a bed by the man. A nife in one hand that was like a sword. Fear was all she felt.

She believed she wouldnt be saved. She believed she would die in the hands of this vile man.

She glanced around the room to see a little girl and a boy that was around her age. She annalized the two before snapping her eyes back to the man from earlier.

"What the hell is going on here?" She shouted at the man. She watched as his face hardened. She didnt see the way his arm raised and how his hand came flying down to her cheek.

Carters haead swung to the side with the fore. Her cheek flared up at the conection of his hand making contact.

"Dont you ever speak to me like that again!" he screamed at her. "If you ever speak to me like that ill break a bone in your presious little body"

She ignored his threat and gathered as much saliva as possible before spitting it at him.

The spit had landed right benieth his eye under his cheek. His face became red in anger as he slamed his fist into her cheek again and again before wiping the spit off his face with hatred etched on his face.

"You to better teach her the rules unless you want your new family member to die" he growled at the boy an girl.

They both nodded as he went up the stairs and out of the basement.

The little girl ran over to Carter and climbed onto the bed before taking Carters face in her small ones.

"Uncle Hunter? Who is this" she asked as she looked back at the boy.

"That sweetie is Carter" He wispeared before walking over to the two girls.

He looked over at the little girl who had become his neice when the man brought her down there when she was 1. Then he glanced over at Carters tired face. He couldnt help but wonder how that man did all this.

"Carter?" he asked as he came closer to her. "Come on Carter" He wispered to her as he undid the ropes around her hands and feet.

"H-hunter?" Carter asked in fear.

"I'm so sorry Carter. I never wanted you to get hurt." he murmered as he brushed his fingers through her hair.

"Is she my mommy" the little girl asked. Which stunned Hunter for a second.

Hunter looked over at the little girl with a small frown on his face. He didn't know what to tell her. He didn't know where her parents are nor who they were.

"Um the thing is sweetie is that I don't know who you-" Hunter started to say.

"Yes. I'm your mom. Okay." Carters voice echoed in the room as she slowly sat up looking at the two in front of her. "What Hunter was getting at is your that I'm only your temporary mom. Your real mom is somewhere, but for as long as your with me ill be your mom. Every little girl needs a mom" Carter stated to the 3 year old. Who stared at Carter in confusion but nodded her head and leaped onto Carter. Wrapping her arms around Carter's neck while Carter hugged her tightly to her body.

"Wow Carter. Your always helping others" Hunter said as he stared at them in amazement.

"Y-yeah well that's just who I am" Carter whispered as the little girls arms tightened around her.

Now Carter had to be brave for both herself and the little girl.
