Mason's POV-
This year was supposed to be the same as last. Ihad figured nothing would change since it hadnt from 9th to 10th.
Now that is sinior year I was thinking would be the same. I would sit in the back not uttering a word as my gaze is locked on th ebeautifaul Carter. She was something eles Itell you.
Everything she did made my heart swelled with some feeling that I havent really ever been able to figure out.
I always felt a deep conection to her but i didnt know what to call that conection. I couldint possibly be in love with her since Ive never spoken to her. Ive never talked to Carter before but almost everyday I go up behind her and open my moth to say her name but nothing comes out.So here I am sitting in my regular seat staring at the door waiting for her to walk in. After 10 minutes of waiting and seeing that everyone but her was already in there seats made me concerned. I quickly got up and walked out the door ignoring the teacher and smirking when I heared the teacher scream my best friends name. Soon I heard a pair of feet jogging up to me. I looked over to see Bret walking next to me.
"So you want to explain why we just walked out of class?" Bret asked.
"She wasnt there. Carter wasnt tere" I murmered. I glanced over at him to see him nod in understanding.
"Okay so what are we doing?" he asked.
"We are going to look for her" i said.
"Dude she probly is just home sick. Leave it alone." Bret said. I looked at him with a glare.
"She never misses a day" I sneered at him. I cant believe him right now. He knows how much she means to me. How much I care.
"Well where are we going to look?" He asked with a sigh, I honestly don't know exactly where she could be. I shrugged my shoulders and looked down at the ground. "Dude. I still think we should wait a couple days before freaking out. I mean there is a chance that something happened to her family like a grandparent died and she had to go to the funeral." He murmured. I nodded in agreement but I couldn't get the feeling out of mind that something was wrong.
"Fine. If she isn't here tomorrow we are looking for her, but for right now lets get out of here" I said before slamming an exit door open. I whipped out my box of cigarettes and offered one to Bret who took one happily. I grabbed one and put the rest back in my pocket. I lit mine and threw the lighter to Bret and continued walking until I reached my lovely motorcycle.
"So what are we doing now Mas?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders not really caring. We could drive around town for all I care. "Why don't we go to Kevin's for a little while? Maybe he'll have something for us to do there." I nodded in agreement and hoped on my bike while Bret hoped into his jeep.
"Bret! Mason! Nice to see ya." Kevin shouted as he stumbled over to us. I smiled at my older brother as he threw an arm around my shoulder. "How you doin little bro? Got that chic yet? Cara, Carina?" he slurred.
"Its Carter and no" I murmured as I shoved his drunken ass off me. I shoved Kevin over to Bret who stumbled over from the surprised weight. I chuckled and continued my way into his house looking for his wife Lisa. As I walked through the threshold I saw Lisa holding her new born baby girl.
"Hey Lisa" I said as I walked up to them.
"Hey Mason. How are you? How's Carter?" She asked as I sat down next to her.
"I'm good. I don't know about Carter. She wasn't at school today" I murmured as I looked at my niece Rosy.
"I'm sure she's alright. Ill give her a call right now okay?" She asked as she handed me Rosy. What I failed to mention was that Lisa is Carters god mother. I watched as she walked over to her purse and dug out her phone.
I looked down at Rosy and smiled at her before patting her little nose with my finger, her small form shook as she erupted into giggles with her nose crinkled up. Her eyes gleamed with happiness as she stared at me.
I looked back at Lisa as she had the phone to her ear a smile gracing her face. She pulled the phone away and pressed a few buttons. I watched as concern invaded her features as she did the same thing again.
"Lisa what's wrong." I asked as I stood with a still giggling Rosy.
"Nothing she's just not answering." She whispered. "and she usually answers the first time." I stared at her waiting for her to say more. "I'm going to call her parents. Maybe they are home" she said as she began to press buttons on her phone again. I watched in anticipation as she brought the phone up to her ear.
"Hey Sandra?" She asked "Are you home? I tried calling Carter but she didn't answer" Lisa stated. "Yeah well I my brother in law said she wasn't at school today"
I watched as she picked her purse up and grabbed her keys. She looked at me and motioned me to follow. I followed her out to her car ignoring Kevin and Bret as they asked where we were going. I buckled Rosy into her seat in the back and hoped into the passenger seat as Lisa got in the drivers side.
"yeah I'm headed over right now. Ill give you call once I get there. I know your worried since what happened a few years ago. That's why I'm more then willing to go over there." Lisa said. What the hell happened a few years ago? I looked at her with a stern look as she hung up the phone.
"What the heck happened a few years ago Lisa?" I growled at her.
"Well um back when she was in 8th grade she met a guy. His name was Hunter and he was bad. He was the same age as her but he over powered her. One day Carters parents had came home and found her on the floor unconscious. When she woke up in the hospital she was scared to death saying stuff like were is he and he wont let me go. I had arrived when she was telling her parents what happened. That this boy Hunter had thrown her into a wall. There wasn't much more other than him saying she was his and that he knew what was best for Carter. I guess Carter stood up for herself but that's when he threw her." Lisa said. "We all thought she wouldn't make it from loosing so much blood. " she said with a sigh.
"Blood?" I cut her off asking in confusion.
"She had hit her head off a table as she slid to the ground. I felt terrible for her, she was so scared. They never found the boy. She's been paranoid ever since, barely making any friends like you know. She's afraid he would come back stronger and I don't know hurt her or control her." she said as she pulled up to a small house.
She put the car in park and hoped out and quickly grabbed Rosy before rushing to the front door. I followed closely behind. She knocked on the door a couple times before ringing the door a few times. She slowly reached down to the door knob and turned it to find it unlocked.
"Okay Mason. I'm going to look around down stairs. I want you to go up to check upstairs. Her room is the 3 door on the right." She whispered as she walked away. I slowly crept to the stairs and began to walk up them when I heard the sound of glass shattering. I picked up my pace to Carters room. I tried to open her door only to find it locked.
"Help!" Carters fear strickin voice screamed. I began to panic as I rambed my shoulder into the door. Again and again untill I finaly kicked the door open. I rushed in and over to the broken window to see nothing and nobody out of the ordinary. I sighed in annoyance as I glanced around the room only to stumble backwords in shock.
"Lisa!" I shouted with a sheaky voice. "You better call 911" I finished as I comtinued to annalize the room.
There was red stuff running down the wall. It was painted on the wall spelling out 'Bye Bye Carter'. My jaw clenched in anger as I realized that the red stuff dripping on the wall was blood. I couldnt help but think that it was Carters blood. I want to kill who took her.
