"Maybe there's nothing after midnight that could make you stay"

Michael curled up on his bedroom floor, sobbing into his knees. He felt pathetic, he was like this every night but tonight was awful.

He shakily reached for his phone and dialled a number.
"Hello?" A voice answered.

"L-Luke," michael sobbed.

"Mikey?" He asked worriedly. "What's wrong?"

"Come here please." Michael cried. Luke only just understood his words.

"Okay hold on I'll be right over."

Luke hung up and opened his front door, walking next door to Michaels house. His mother didn't question anything. Luke helped Michael in a way she couldn't so she always welcomed Luke in, even at 1am.

He opened Michaels bedroom door and felt sadness looking at the small boy on the floor.

He closed the door behind him and bent down.

"Mikey come on, talk to me."

"I-it hurts," he sobbed into the ground.

"What hurts?"

"My heart." He squeaked.

Luke gulped, knowing exactly what was going on.

He lay on the floor also and pulled Michael so he was lay on his chest sobbing into his shirt instead.

"Shh, it'll be okay."

"Will it though?"

Luke bit his lip. He knew the answer to that.
"Baby don't cry." He shook his head.

Michaels head lifted to look at Luke slightly. His red puffy eyes were heartbreaking, and the crystal tears flowing from them were even more so.

"Have you ever cried like this?" He asked quietly though he was hiccuping loudly every few seconds now.

"Yeah." Luke sighed and kept his eyes from watering. "I have."

"Why?" Michael asked.

"Because I was sad." Luke answered vaguely, he couldn't get into it with Michael. Ever.

"Lukey can you stay tonight?" Michael asked with dry tear tracks on his face. "Please? I need you."

"I can't." Luke replied.

Michael started to cry again and Luke sighed. It was 2am now and he still wasn't even half settled down enough to sleep, he was running out of options.

"Mikey look at me." Luke sat them both up so they were facing each other and Michael stared at him intently.

He placed his hands on each side of Michaels face and connected their lips in a slow, gentle kiss.

He pulled away a few seconds later noticing michael had calmed down more.

"T-thank you," Michael whispered.

"S'okay baby." Luke hummed and picked Michael up off the ground, placing him in bed and tucking him in.

He sat over Michael for a while, stroking his hair and whispering sweet nothings until he fell asleep, then he went home.

And then it was his turn to cry.
