"There's a hurricane under neath it trying to keep us apart"

The next night Luke sat on his floor in tears, over thinking everything and counting each reason he didn't like himself.

Then his phone started to buzz.
"Hello?" He asked.

"L-Luke p-please," Michaels voice whimpered down the line.

"I'm coming baby." He said softly and hung up, managing not to hiccup and give himself away.

He walked to his bathroom and watched his reflection carefully. The bags under his eyes were too much and his hair stuck up in too many directions to count. He sighed and pulled on a beanie and used a little concealer under his eyes that he had discreetly bought one time.

Luke always wore concealer under his eyes if he was going to see Michael. He didn't want him to worry that he wasn't sleeping.

He walked next door and jogged up the stairs of Michaels house.

He saw the boy in the corner of his bedroom, hugging his knees.

"Mike?" Luke asked softly. "What's wrong baby?"

Michael glanced up at him with glossy eyes. "I d-don't know."

"Yeah you do," Luke sighed. He sat on the floor next to michael and wrapped an arm around him, resting his head on top of Michaels.

Michael kept his eyes closed. "Do you think I'm pretty?"

Luke kissed Michaels forehead. "Of course I do! Why wouldn't you think you were?"

"A b-boy at school today said I wasn't." Michael frowned and opened his eyes.

"You're beautiful baby, hush." Luke said.

"But you w-won't-"

"Stop." Luke said in a croaky voice, his heart breaking the second Michael unknowingly hit a nerve.

"I-I'm sorry Lukey I just-"

"I said stop Michael." Luke snapped.

Michael flinched.

"I love you." Michael whimpered Into the darkness of the room.

"I love you too." Luke said, and he meant it.
Luke kissed Michael and tucked him in bed, thankful michael was too tired to ask him to stay.

He hated to disappoint Michael.

"Sleep well princess." Luke spoke in a soft voice with a fond smile on his face.

Michael shuffled in bed, already half asleep with a smile.

Luke pulled up Michaels blanket to his rosy cheeks and left the room, and the house, to enter his own.

He removed his concealer and beanie and climbed into bed, small tears trickling down his cheeks and a heavy heart.
