Ok, so I was doing "Mary Poppins" and was Valentine the doll. It was a lot of fun and a cool role! I was also a chimney sweep, but more on that later. So the dollhouse we had was a large dollhouse almost as tall as me (tall enough that I had a stool with me behind the doll house) and was expanded back using two pieces of wood on either side, painted like the doll house. A techie pushed the doll house out while I walked between the two pieces of wood (just in case).
So for this show the techie went a little to fast. The wood hit my ankle, ouch. It hurt but I figured the pain would go away. The techie was said sorry, and I was just like, its okay accidents happen. So I was sitting on the stool behind the dollhouse while the scene started. My ankle still hurt so I went ahead and looked at it. It was bleeding and really really hurt! I was kind of freaking out. I was smiling this big giant smile to stop myself from crying. So with blood running down my ankle I popped up out of the dollhouse, sang about evil little kids. Dance with my toy minions and went back behind the doll house.
Instead of staying behind the dollhouse until intermission however, I went off with the other toys and ran to find my dad. I was not a happy camper. Luckily, I was only in two scenes. However, the other scene was the chimney sweeps and I was wearing tap shoes, which of course dug into the cut. And was just as painful as the toy dance. I can't help but be really proud of myself for not breaking down onstage.
So that was my painful experience. Not Fun! Tell me if you have had anything painful happen to you during a show. I want to know!
