Don't touch props. Just don't. It's like the number one no no in theatre.
One time I had to deal with little kids taking props. They were running around playing with them and I had to chase them until one of them finally gave the prop back. The other girl ran into thr Bathroom. With the Prop. I ended up getting the director to help me from exploding.
