Chapter Thirteen
When we wake up the next morning, we move with a new found vigor. The energy and need to get to the Capitol is palpable in the cool air. When we walk no one talks. Not one word is spoken until we reach the rendezvous spot for the rebels to meet us. From there we will draw up a more formal plan and then execute it.
My heart thuds with the sudden thought of battle. My heart craves it. The adrenaline. The rush. Skylar. My heart craves Skylar, too. Every part of me craves my brother. I push myself to walk faster as if it will help to reach him faster.

I've just taken a sip of water when I hear a crinkle of leaves behind me. I jump up and draw an arrow from the quiver on my back. There is a team of fifty rebels standing in front of me. I know they're rebels because they each have a mockingjay pin. I lower my weapon and walk over to my parents.
A woman walks over to my parents and hugs my mother. Hardly anyone hugs my mother, so I immediately know they are close. She introduces herself to me as Johanna Mason. I recognize her name from my parent's scrapbook. She was a rebel in the Mockingjay Rebellion. It's good to know that we have people with war knowledge on our side.
We sit down and discuss our plan. The strategy itself is simple. The Capitol believes that we are trying to uphold peace. They won't suspect an attack yet. We will meet with a group of other rebels. Johanna says that there are many. I have no idea how many that means. A group of rebels will storm the Headquarters where Skylar is being held and create a distraction. Peacekeepers will rush there leaving some of the entrances open. Another group will enter and shoot anyone they see. Once the building is clear... Caleb and I come in and get Skylar. Mother and Father will be with three other rebel groups storming the president's house. It will be my job to get Skylar then get out of the Capitol as soon as possible. Caleb and I will take Skylar directly to Annie's and will not, absolutely will not, help my parents and the rebels bring down the Capitol. My job is to retrieve Skylar. And I can't wait to complete it.

We walk as an unforeseen force. After Johanna discussed our strategy, we talked weapons. Apparently, the rebels have quite the stash. Giant guns and small rocket launchers are a few toys that the rebels have at hand. I am to have a smaller gun, a sleek rifle, just in case something were to go wrong. But nothing is going to go run. Everything is going to run smoothly. Skylar will be in the right hands soon.
We walk until sundown. We sleep and then, at sunrise, we walk again. We do this for several days. At the end of our third day with the rebels, Johanna and my parents stop walking. Caleb and I hike over to them and stop in mid-step when we see what is in front of us. We've made it to the Capitol.
