I said my goodbyes to my mom and got in the car as Brendon's mom speeded off.
I was staring out the window watching the houses go by.

They probably have families.
Children.
Parents.

And I'm here with a clueless mother and abusive father.

Not to mention everyone in my school hates me.

"Emo"
"Cunt"
"Cutter"

I was taken out of my depressing thoughts when Brendon's mom was snapping her fingers like a spoiled celebrity looking for her slave.

"Excuse me young lady I'm talking to you!" She said abruptly.

"oh me, I'm sorry I was-"

"I don't care what you were doing! Please tell me why my troublesome son decided to sneak out of being grounded to see YOU!" She said rudely

I looked at her like she has stabbed my dog and eaten it.

"Jesus Christ" I said under my breath.

"EXCUSE ME YOUNG LADY! NOT A WORD FOR THE REST OF THE CAR RIDE" she screamed.

I slowly turned away back to the window.

At the hospital

I ran into the waiting room and noticed a familiar face wearing a black hoodie that had "My Chemical Romance" on it in red.

Ryan Fucking Ross.

I sat down next to him as Brendon's mom went to scream at some nurse.

"Hey Ryan" I whispered as he took out his earbuds.
He kept his head down as he was staring at his MP3 player.

"Um hi." He mumbled under his breath.

He handed me a earbud and he put his in.
He pressed play and I heard a piano playing.

We both sat in silence and watched Brendon's mom freak out at random people who probably were thinking she was crazy.

Finally someone told us to get up and follow them.

Me and Ryan walked close together he kept his head down as he was mumbling again.

We finally reached a room where my heart stopped completely.
It felt unreal.

It can't be real...

Brendon was laying on a bed.
Bloody.
Several bandages and broken bones.

He looked lifeless.
Dead.
Sleeping.
Not with us.

It all happened too fast.

I felt like I was flying.

I didn't want to get closer but my legs started moving.
I couldn't hear anything but white noise and the sound of my footsteps.

.... Please don't be real...

I suddenly felt my body being dropped on the ground.
Like my "wings" gave up on me.
I fell on my knees and felt hot tears fall down my face.

I then could feel a hand on my shoulder.
I looked up and saw Ryan's blurry face.

It's all real.
It's like a terrible movie.
It feels fake.
Like Brendon is going to jump up and say "surprise!"

It's not happening.

It's not fair.
